Welcome to EuroCup 2017! Welcome to Lublin!
Master Jerzy Jedut - President of Polish Taekwon-Do Association & AETF Secretary General

Dear Presidents, Grand Masters, Masters, Coaches and Competitors,

On behalf of Polish Taekwon-do Federation, AETF and residents of Lublin, the city that celebrates 700th anniversary this year, I would like to invite you to participate in 8th European Teakwon-do Cup that will be held on 9th to 11th June this year in Hala Sportowa “Globus” in Lublin.

Polish Taekwon-do has its beginnings in Lublin. The first section/club here was created in 1974. Despite the fact that over more than 40 years almost 80 clubs emerged in Poland in 117 different towns and cities, bringing together more than 13 thousand adepts, Lublin and lubelskie region are still strong and significant players in polish and world Taekwon-do. I would like to mention that both Polish Taekwon-do Federation and AETF have their headquarters here in Lublin. Moreover, Lublin hosted 9th European Senior Championships in 1994 and in 2009 3rd European Taekwon-do Cup was held here – the event that still stays in memory due to the “Worriors night”. What is more, several times Lublin hosted International Taekwon-do Match – an event well-known and valued among competitors. It is worth mentioning that Lublin and other cities of lubelskie region organized the most important national events, among others Polish Championships in all age categories, Polish Cups and Polish Grand Prix. People, so experienced in organizing different events, like Master Tadeusz Łoboda and his Polish Taekwon-do Federation staff along with coaches and competitors of LSKT Club may guarantee incredibly attractive competition where both audience and press will be involved.

Lublin with its surroundings is a very attractive area for tourists. With its 700-year-old history, the city amazes travelling guests with its Old Town (“Starówka”). This picturesque part of Lublin is full of tourists from all over the world at summertime. The amazing atmosphere, narrow cobble-stoned streets, charming old buildings, sights that are nowhere to be found, but also flavors - as Starówka is a place where both residents and tourists meet up to taste polish (but not only) cuisine. Starówka lives until very late at night. Everyone who has ever been to this place, comes back. There are various attractions prepared in Lublin for its 700th anniversary. Visiting Lublin at the time of European Cup gives you the opportunity to see and live at least some of them.

The important information for coaches and competitors is that the team of many polish clubs will participate in both tournaments. It means that the rivalry will reach highest levels and, most importantly, there will be numerous participants in all competitions and categories. Organizers will definitely do their best to make sure that the setting is extraordinary, and final gala will be remembered for long – as it was the case with the memorable “Warriors night of 2009”.

Once again, I am honored to invite you to visit Lublin in this warm, summery time and to participate in European Cup and in International Tournament for Kids and Cadets. The level and the prestige of these events are higher every year, making European Cup the second most important tournament in Europe – just after European Championships.

Yours faithfully,
Master Jerzy Jedut
President of Polish Taekwon-Do Association
& AETF Secretary General
