Black Belt For General Slawomir Petelicki

The International Taekwon-do Federation awarded Black Belt for gen. Slawomir Petelicki on proposal of Polish Taekwon-do Association. Gen. Petelicki was the Founder and First Commander of the Special Operations Detachment "GROM".

Gen. Petelicki is the second person in Poland who became an honorary Black Belt Degree. His certificate number is PO-H-1-568. Professor Henryk Sozański, the Rector of Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw was the first honorary Black Belt in Poland.

Gen. Sławomir Petelicki was born on 13th September 1946 in Warsaw . He graduated the Faculty of Law in Warsaw University. He was a secret service officer since 1969. He passed the most difficult intelligence training and took part in many top secret missions for example in North Vietnam (1971) and China (1972). Gen. Petelicki worked five years in the Polish Intelligence Headquaters in Warsaw. He was Head of the Diplomatic Post Security Department and Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked in the Polish Diplomatic Embassy in New York and Stockholm . He was Prime Minister’s Plenipotentiary for Combating Organized Crime. He participated in the training of the United States Special Forces. As a colonel he was authorised to establish the Special Operations Detachment “GROM” and then became the commander of "GROM".

Furthermore he is also a honorary member of the 5th and 10th United States Army Special Forces Group (Airborne -”Green Berets”)

At this present time gen. Petelicki is the President of Supervisory Board of the GROM Group and strategy consultant of Ernest and Young Company in Warsaw.

On 5th October 2006 the Taekwon-do delegation visited gen Petelicki in Warsaw. The delegation involved: Mr. Tadeusz Loboda, Mr. Jerzy Jedut and Mr. Andrzej Piotrowski, IV Dan, one of the forerunners of Taekwon-do in Poland, who worked for many years in the Diplomatic Department of Poland.

The meeting was very productive. Gen. Petelicki was honored to achieve Taekwon-do ITF Black Belt. He was granted Black Belt because the International Taekwon-do Federation and the Polish Taekwon-do Association wanted to show their appreciation for his contribution in the development of martial arts in Polish Special Forces. Many soldiers of "GROM", English "SAS" and the United States "Delta Force" practice various martial arts including Taekwon-do ITF.

Gen. Petelicki practiced other martial arts such as Judo where he achieved Black Belt. Due to his line of work his physical activities entailed shooting, parachute jumping, running, swimming and diving.

Gen. Petelicki’s career was influenced by his father. Miroslaw Petelicki was a colonel of the Polish Military Force and a veteran of the Second World War. He was also a remarkable athlete and a member of Polish National Shooting Team in the category running target shooting TRAP 200 and won second place with the team on the European Championships in 1964 in Bologna, Italy.
