2nd Black Belt Cup in Austria - Report

On 14th November 2015 the 2nd Black Belt Cup was held in St. Pölten, Austria. More than 100 competitors from 4 nations took part in our international tournament. Besides host country Austria, the nations of Germany, Czech Republic and Moldavia also sent a strong selection of competitors to test their mettle.

The contest for medals took place in the following events:

We were honoured to welcome Grand Master Tom MacCallum IX Degree(Board Member of the ITF). Travelling especially from Scotland, he conducted a grading examination with six candidates two days before the competition and subsequently remained as honoured guest until the end of the tournament.

Master Vladimir Machota VII Degree accompanied the team of competitors from the Czech Republic and also took a seat in our VIP area. Master Machota with his team and GM MacCallum.

As further honorary guest, we welcomed the mayor of St. Pölten, Mr. Matthias Stadler.

As part of the opening ceremony, the annual "club of the year" award was presented to the club "Tiger Division". The challenge cup is an award for extraordinary efforts of the club in the past year.

During the opening ceremony, a minute's silence was held for the victims of the attacks in Paris on 13th November.

The large team from Moldavia (15 competitors) was led by Ion Postu VI.DAN, who won the silver medal in the categories Power Test and Tul. In addition, the entire team won the gold medal in 11 out of 38 categories.

Competing, amongst others, for the TKD club Monheim from Germany was Andrea Sinner, winner of the ITF World Cup 2014. Outstanding and not to be beaten, she won the gold medal in all 3 categories Tul, Matsogi and t-ki (special technique).

From an Austrian perspective, the result was accordingly good due to the large team. 22 gold medals went to Austria. The achievements of the clubs GUK-GI and IN-NAE were particularly noteworthy, who led the medal tally with 7 and 5 gold medals, respectively.

The 2nd Black Belt Cup was a successful event, both in organisational and sporting terms!
