On Saturday evening 16th June and Sunday Morning 17th June 2018 took place the test for Black Belts. Together 41 people attended the grading and 21 were promoted.
Grand Master Ung Kim Lan IX Degree – the main examiner of Polish Taekwon-Do Association Since 17th December 2006, summarized the June grading in the following way:
The level of the grading was high. The system of black belt degrees, especially when it comes to breaking is very difficult. You have six breakings: three special techniques and three power tests. The exam shows not only technical skills of adept but also his physical efficiency. The black belt test is demanding particularly to the candidates for first black belt degree. Everyone must perform not only three patterns ( or sometime four pattern ), but also all the step sparrings, self-defence which is prepared by the people very well. We expect that the adepts will have good technique, therefore there is also special part for foot techniques. At the end there is always very difficult and long theoretical part. Therefore the result is following: 22 people from 41 passed the grading. It´s a hard result but I did´nt do it with intention. Peoples have to feel they deserve to wear a black belt and not to feel they receive a gift from us. Like when you win a hard fight you feel more lucky than a easy fight.
I heard from Master Jedut that one person failed the grading already seven times, but he continues to work hard and is going to proceed to the grading again. I think this person has a very good “Do” and I feel respect for him. I honour such people. Almost all who failed the grading here, proceed to it again. It shows that you have a very good teaching attitude in Poland. People accept the decision on failing the exam, correct mistakes and attend the grading again. It means that people here are not only good technically but also mentally. Therefore my congratulations to the organization and to the coaches. This is exactly what I expect. You are on the right way in the teaching process.
Also the publicity is present at the grading. This makes that if people are good others will imitate them.
I travel a lot around the world. The system of black belt grading in Poland is unique and differs from such test in other countries. I am happy and I appreciate the fact that I come to Poland on regular basis and I would like to thank Polish Taekwon-Do Association for hospitality and good reception of me. I feel in Poland always very comfortable and as at home. It is always a great pleasure for me.
Next to Grand Master Ung Kim Lan there were following masters in the examiners panel: Master Jerzy Jedut - 8th Degree, Master Wojciech Zdanuczyk – 7th Degree and Master Jarosław Suska – 7th Degree.
