“Burgas” Cup Report

On 24-25 March 2016 at “Nikola Stanchev” Sports Hall, Burgas city, Bulgaria was held the International Taekwon-Do Tournament “Burgas Cup”. The event was held under the patronage of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality Mr. Dimitar Nikolov. Coorganizers of the event were Sports Association of Ministry of Interior, Central Police Taekwon-Do Club, Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do and the Municipality of Burgas.

Official guest to the competition were GM Panagiotis Gialamas from Greece, Mr. Atanas Atanasov – Regional Expert from Sports and Youth Ministry, Mr. Vencislav Ignatov – Chief of Directorate for Students Sport and Sports Schools in Sports and Youth Ministry, Senior Commissioner Kaloyan Kaloyanov – Chief of Regional Department of Ministry of Interior, Commissioner Nedelcho Rachev – Chief of Security Police in Burgas City. As part of the opening ceremony were performed Bulgarian folklore dance from Professional Dance formation „Zlaten Plamak“, gymnastics dance by Ksenia Bakalova from Dance Club “Freya” and Taekwon-Do demonstration of Junior and Senior competitors of Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do.

211 children (6-11 years), Cadets (12-13 years) and junirs (14-17 years) from 23 clubs representing Greece, Moldova, Slovenia and Bulgaria competed in the individual disciplines: Pattern, Sparring, Special Tecnique and Power Test. The Chairman of the umpire committee Mr. Hristiyan Tsankov - managed a team of 35 umpires in 4 rings for the 2 days. As tradition of Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do awards for best complex competitors (quadrathlonists) for each age and gender division were given. The winning places were decided according to collected points from the different disciplines.

Girls 6-7 years – Svetoslav Dimov – SC “Vazrazhdane" - 29 points; Boys 8-9 years – Stanislav Cholakov – MSK “Alians” - 30 points;
Girls 8-9 years – Asya Stoyanova – CPTC “35 School" - 28 points; Boys 10-11 years – Kristiyan Krastev – CPTC “97 School" - 36 points;
Girls 10-11 years – Nadezhda Ilieva - TC “Levski - 5 School” - 39 points;
Cadets Boys – Dimitrios Michos - SC “Aristotelis” - 38 points;
Cadets Girls – Georgia Georgieva - CPTC “97 School" - 37 points;
Junior Male – Kaloyan Arnaudov - CPTC “Rakovski" - 34 points;
Junior Female – Alexandra Slavcheva – TC “Levski - 61 School" - 35 points.

Children and Cadets (6-13 years)

  1. MSK „Alians“ - 16 Gold, 7 Silver, 10 bronze;
  2. CPTC „NSOU Sofia“ – 12 Gold, 11 Silver, 12 bronze.
  3. CPTC „97 School“ – 11 Gold, 5 Silver, 16 bronze;

Juniors (14-17 years)

  1. CPTC „NSOU Sofia“ – 4 Gold, 4 Silver, 1 bronze;
  2. AHAC Sentjur – 4 Gold, 2 Silver, 0 bronze;
  3. CPTC „Rakovski“ – 3 Gold, 3 Silver, 3 bronze

Winners of National Quadrathlon Taekwon-Do Tournament for “Stara Zagora” Cup

  1. CPTC “NSOU Sofia” – 495 points.
