Master Hutton in Denmark Report

The ITF Denmark and Soroe Taekwon-Do was fortunate to have invited Master Mark Hutton, 8th. degree from Scotland to host to days of seminars in Denmark.

25 instructors and Taekwon-Do Kids trainers gathered saturday March the 25th to an introduction and qualification course in the Taekwon-Do KUBZ programme developed by Master Hutton. Participants from Denmark, Czech Republic and Sweden eagerly joined the enthusiastic teaching of Master Hutton. We were fortunate also to have Master Peter Logozar from Sweden joining the seminar.

The programme focuses on the teaching of children aged 3-6 years old, but the tools for teaching and empowerment are universal in the teachings of all Taekwon-Do practitioners. The Taekwon-Do KUBZ motto: "Effort and Attitude builds Champions” was the very foundation of a day full of games, role plays and discussions on the many layers of relationships between the student, parents, teachers and martial art instructors. It was an inspiring seminar that covered both the involvement of school, parents and caretakers as well as general teaching environment, cultural differences in introducing children programmes in different countries. Time went quickly but even how to set up a children’s grading and personal Q & A was fitted into the day. 25 inspired participants left the seminar with renewed energy and useful methods in teaching all classes in Taekwon-Do.

The second day, namely march the 25th. Master Hutton performed three intense seminars. First he lead a KUBZ inspired class with 40 young practitioners aged 6-11. All the theory of yesterday KUBZ instructors qualification was shown in practise. 90 minutes of enthusiastic kicking, punching and empowering the children went fast and happy kids focused 100% and made the effort. Proud parents sat watching as there kids followed every instruction with eager minds and full of energy. Master Hutton made a difference that day in Denmark, addressing also the parents directly as the most important people in their children lives and to let them know our great respect as instructors for being allowed to teach their child.

After a short break a 4 hour seminar started for students over 12 years of age. This time the theme was “Fit for Purpose”. More than 40 participants from Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic and Denmark worked hard to enjoy not only results but to focus and dedicate all their mind and body to “the journey”. No matter the age or athletic skill of each participant everybody experienced benefits and light bulb moments as Master Hutton showed and taught to focus on the purpose of each technique and usefulness, to let everybody kick, punch, stun, strike and thrust with devastating power and intent. Yet again empowerment became the very foundation of the practice.

After 4 hours of intense training the seminar was closed with a one hour session for black belts only. Energy levels may have been running low, but the effort to follow the last teachings were their and all participants went home tired with some nice bruises, that is Badges of Honor and a lot of new knowledge, inspiration and dedication for our wonderful Martial Art.
