2nd Roma Open International Taekwon-Do ITF

Twelve participating countries, with a total of 475 competitors, participated to the second edition of the ROME OPEN INTERNATIONAL TAEKWON-DO ITF on 25 and 26 February in Rome at the Sportshall Palatorrino. The first day was dedicated to Juniors, Seniors and to the Grand Champion titles, and the second to all Children and Cadets.

Argentina, France, Finland, Georgia, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine, Hungary and Italy on the mats for a fantastic weekend of friendship and high-level sport. Present famous teams as the Slovenian one, led by Maestro Tomaz Barada, the Ukrainian with Oleg and Katya Solovey Masters, Sabum Lylian Doulay European and world champion, the Swedish group with Master Swavek Dydiszko, the Finns with Master Thierry Meyour, the Hungarians with Sabum Peter Szazsz, organizer of the last World Cup in Budapest, the Irish team with Master Hong Looi, the large group of Norwegians, the Polish Bartosz Slodkowski who already won the title of Grand Champion in the Italian Open 2016 in Legnano last November and of course our athletes of the national team led by Sabum Massimo Persia.

The event has been organized by the ExtremeFighters team: GM Wim Bos, Master S. Minotti, Sabum L. Iagher, Sabum P. Gentile and Mrs. Tiziana Mimmocchi.

The weigh-in and the competition took place on time as planned, thanks to the online system www.handlesport.com , elaborated by Maestro Mickhail Vorontsov who actively participated in the management of all stages of the race, registration and publication of results in real time.

As always, the director was the GM Wim Bos who organized the ring schedule allowing the beginning and the end of the competitions as well as planned. For Juniors and Seniors categories were run matches to determine the 3rd place.

The event, opened by GM Wim Bos and Master Carmine Caiazzo President FITAE-ITF, was divided into three different races as written in the invitation:

The winners of the ELITE PRO weight categories entered the competition for the GRAND CHAMPION titles whose fights were very exciting:

The final between Timothy Bos (ExtremeFighters Team Roma), home favorite, and Nejc Gazvoda, ITF Junior World Champion and Wako European Champion 2016 -69 kg, wowed the audience for its competitive spirit and level. Bos wins clearly scoring clear points with great confidence and technique.

Bartosz Slodkowski from Poland (LKS Sparta Glubczyce) wins the heavy weight category and, for the second time after the Dolomia Italian Open last November in Milan, takes home the technical kits and the money prize.

In the female Grand Champion final Ms. Karolina Konik, also from Poland (LKS Sparta Glubczyce) defeats the norwegian opponent and wins all the prizes.

Big cheer also in the pattern IV-VI dan competition where Sabum M. Persia wins gold, defeating the super champion Sabum L. Doulay.

Remarkable demonstration of Traditional Sparring by two multi titled couples, Farigu-Oriolani and Persia-Di Profio, that as always recorded great success by public and athletes.

Lively and intense also the Sunday event for Children and Cadets, some for the first time on the mats, that took the competition very seriously. Congratulations to all coaches and parents that allowed the carrying out of a clean, fun race with fair play.

The Crew Fighters team from Naples, led by Master Cammarota and Sabum Mario De Lucia, dug out the medals and classified first, among the place of the 47 participating clubs, with 17 Gold, 14 Silver and 11 Bronze medals.

Sabum Peter Szasz, organizer of the 2017 World Cup in Budapest, presented a great gift to GM Bos for all the help and commitment that he put in helping to organize the World event in Hungary: an innovative bicycle, Hungarian patented with string transmission, imprinted with the name of GM Bos.

A weekend event that, besides offering the opportunity to visit the city of Rome, gave the possibility of consolidating old friendships and create some new ones.
