Mazovia Masters Cup 2016 - Raport

The jubilee 10th International Tournament Mazovia Master Cup 2016 and the 3rd International Polish Senior Advanced Championships took place from 18th to 19th November 2016 in Ciechanów, Poland.

The organizer was Mr. Michal Korzybski, President and Head Coach of LKS Matsogi Ciechanów, former coach of Polish National Team, instructor of many well-known and titled competitors.

Mr. Krzysztof Kosiński – President of Ciechanów City took the honorary patronage over the event.

In the tournament participated the record-high number of 273 competitors from 43 schools representing five countries: Belarus, Latvia, Russia, Sweden and Poland.

The championships were held on five rings according to the repasage system in sparring for seniors, seniors advanced and juniors black belts as well as in pyramid system for junior colour belts holders.

31 umpires chaired by Mr. Roman Lewicki – Vicepresident of PTA for umpire matters were working during the competition. Mr. Lewicki, who was responsible for the course of the championships, managed the task very well. The competition started at 8.30 and finished after ten hours at 18.30. Despite the hectic schedule of the competition and high number of bouts, there was a time prepared for the official opening ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Korzybski handed to the people engaged in the organization of the tournament special plates with gratitude letters as well as commemorative medals for all coaches and umpires. Master Tadeusz Loboda – PTA Vice-President congratulated Mr. Korzybski the jubilee and thanked him in a special gratitude letter for organization of the competition on behalf of the Polish Taekwon-Do Association.

The opening ceremony was also an opportunity to celebrate another jubilee – the five years term of Internet portal PZTKD Live (pztkdlive.pl), established and run by Mr. Gawel Szczesny. On this opportunity Mr. Szczesny received the memory diploma and the financial award approved by the PTA Board of Directors. PZTKD Live portal was also present at MMC 2016 competition and reported it online by publishing the program of the competition, draws, but also results and classifications for all those interested.

Mazovia Masters Cup took place in the hospitable sport hall of Municipal Sport and Recreation Center in Ciechanów, whereas Mr. Jerzy Omieciński – the Head and Mr. Janusz Kącki the Deputy Head of MOSIR fulfilled during the opening ceremony the responsibilities of events hosts.

It is worth mentioning that the only one competitor who took part in all ten editions of the Mazovia Cup was Mr. Pawel Szwejkowski from LKS Matsogi Ciechanów, long-standing member of Polish National Team, current Vice European Champion in the IV-VI Degree Pattern during the European Championships 2016 in Tampere, Finland.

Kuligowska Karolina, Sparta Brzeziny – 1 gold medal and the highest number of bouts

Podwysocka Oliwia, GKT Gdańsk - 1 gold and 1 brązowy medal
Piątek Kamil, KAT Kraków – 1 gold and 1 silver medal and the highest number of bouts

Seniors – color belts:
Niemczyn Małgorzata, TAEWO KWSW Warszawa – 1 gold medal
Radecki Kamil, KS Dragon Janów – 2 gold medal

Seniors – black belts:
Mieszkowska Kaja, WSKT Wrocław – 1 gold i 1 bronze medal
Żuk Maciej, LKT Legnica – 1 gold, 1 silver medal and the highest number of bouts

Seniors advanced:
Dorota Mazur, SKT AN-Do Pruszcz Gdański – 2 gold medals

The competition finished with an official banquet on the invitation and at the costs of the organizer. During the dinner the coaches and invited guests had the opportunity to exchange their opinions and ideas in many interesting discussions as well as to enhance the friendship among each other.

The next 11th International Taekwon-Do Tournament Mazovia Master Cup 2017 and the 4th International Polish Senior Advanced Taekwon-Do Championships will take place on 18th -19th November 2017.
