IIC Poland 2016 - Report

From 27th to 29th May 2016 at the University of Physical Education in Warsaw - the capital city of Poland - took place the 110th International Instructor Course – Poland. The organizer of the event was Polish Taekwon-Do Association.

The participants had at their disposal two sport halls where over 16 hours they had an opportunity to perfect their skills and deepen their knowledge.

What was the difference between the 110th IIC in Warsaw and the previous seminars organized in Poland and in other countries. With 263 participants it was the third-largest seminar after the 100th IIC in Scotland in which 315 participants took part and the 99th IIC in Norway which was attended by 295 instructors.

The representatives from 24 countries came to Warsaw, what is probably the highest number of participating countries in the history of all the previously organized International Instructor Courses. In the capital of Poland met the instructors from three continents: Europe, Asia and South America from the following countries mentioned in the alphabetical order: Argentina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Poland.

Next to the Grand Masters from ITF Technical Committee the course was attended by Grand Master Orello Ellis, 20 Masters as well as one hundred ten 4th to 6th degree holders.

Taking into consideration the numbers of participants from one country the most numerous group was Poland with 106 participants and the second-largest group was Russia with 26 participants. On the third place was Germany with 15 participants. The fourth group was Italy and Norway with 13 instructors and the fifth-largest group were: Romania and England with 12 people. Other countries had lower number of attendees.

The IIC was conducted by the highest degrees in Taekwon-Do: Grand Master Hector Marano, 9th Degree – the Chairman of the ITF Technical Committee.

As well as by Grand Master Ung Kim Lan, 9th Degree - Member of the ITF Technical Committee and a very special person for the Polish Taekwon-Do Association because he acts as a PTA main examiner for black belts for almost 10 years.

On Saturday 28th May 2016 took place also the grading for 7th and 8th Degrees, after which the panel of examiners: GM Hector Marano, GM Paul Weiler and GM Ung Kim Lan announced the new masters:
Promoted to 8th degree were:
1. Master Zbigniew Bujak (Poland)
2. Master Thomas Denis (England)
3. Master Alexander Dunbar (Scotland)

Promoted to 7th degree were and at the same time received the Master’ title:
1. Master Adam Alenowicz (Poland)
2. Master Erol Bernard (England)
3. Master Peter Logozar (Sweden)
4. Master Hans Jorgen Helmersen (Norway)

At the same time was held the grading for the 4th, 5th and 6th Degrees. In this grading took part people from the countries, in which there are not examiners with right to promote such high degrees. The panel of examiners, consisted of Grand Master Orello Ellis and Master Jerzy Jedut, promoted to higher degrees seven from ten candidates.

2. Goron Monica (V Dan) - Romania
3. Vassallo Julian (V Dan) - Argentina
4. Novosolnaja Tatjana (IV Dan) - Ukraina
5. Tokarev Deniss (IV Dan) - Latvia
6. Saulitte Sergejs (IV Dan) - Latvia
7. Marcel Miron (IV Dan) - Romania

The organizer prepared also the official banquet in the restaurant La Maison which was attended by 105 course participants. All who decided to participate in the banquet could not be disappointed. They can enjoy the excellent cuisine of the restaurant, great number of dishes and the diversity of the desserts accompanied by the live music band named Jackpot, where the vocalist Arleta performed the covers of the blues-jazz standards.

During the banquet Mr. Leonardo Oros Duek from Israel performed also unaccompanied the „Argentine Tango” song which he dedicated especially to GM Marano.

All participants received the occasional t-shirts with the IIC inscription prepared by PTA as well as the customary certificates printed by the ITF HQ.

The Polish Taekwon-Do association also prepared the commemorative gratitude letters written on glass, silver cufflinks and tie clasp with the ITF logo as well as nice bath towels with logo of ITF and PTA.
