Central Winter Taekwon-Do Camp - Szczyrk 2016

The nice surprise of this year edition of the Central Winter Taekwon-Do Camp held from 12th to 18th February 2016 in Szczyrk, Poland was the high rate of participation.

In the camp took part in general 93 attendees from six countries such as: Belgium, Czech Republic, England, France, Ireland, USA. Poland was represented by the competitors from the clubs mentioned below in the alphabetical order based on the name of the city in which they are operating: 1. KS Dragon sekcja Bielsko Biała, 2. CzAT Częstochowa , 3. KS Dragon Janów, 4. ULKS Orient Kłobuck, 5. KS Taekwon Kolbudy 6. Sung Kraków 7. MKS Lewart AGS Lubartów, 8. LSKT Lublin, 9. PSKT Poznań, 10. RSCT Radzyń Podlaski, 11. RCSW Rybnik, 12. SSKT Garda Warszawa, 13. WITKD „Kwan” Warszawa, 14. WSKT Wrocław.

The weather conditions during this year edition of Central Winter Taekwon-Do Camp were not too convenient. As for winter season the temperatures were on the rise and at the end of the camp they were up to plus 10 degrees. In the city of Szczyrk there was not too much snow and that left was melted by the shower rains. The situation was better on the snow slops where the snow remained and it was possible to ski and to snowboard. However, some people remained unsatisfied especially those who wished to improve winter sports parallel to Taekwon-Do skills. And those people made almost over 50 % of the participants.

A special guest of the camp was Master Tom Denis from London, who came to Szczyrk with a numerous number of students, most of them of Polish origin.

Because the teaching staff as well as the training system at the winter camp has been explained in a detailed way by the occasion of the reports from the previous editions of the winter camp as well as in the invitations preceded the camps we allowed ourselves to refer to those descriptions. Due to the fact that in the camp participated many talented, but not to experienced competitors in the area of sparring, at the training sessions dominated mostly the exercises in the field of basic and middle intermediate tasks improving the skills of conducting the sparring. Those present, who already gained experience in sparring also used this opportunity to perfect the details of their skills.

The training sessions were exhaustive and for most of the participants were a huge technical challenge.

The blockbuster of the camp was one of the participants, who enrolled to the group of people with the high skiing skills. After he got on the slope with a ski lift, during his ride down he was falling down many times. When instructor Mr. Jaroslaw Suska reached him in order to ask him what is the reason, he fell down so many times, it turned out that the bindings in both shoes were opened. When Mr. Suska looked precisely he noticed that the mentioned adept put the left shoe on the right leg and the right shoe on the left leg. He tried to ski in that way, putting in huge astonishment his co-participants of the white ride.
