The Euros2016 project is progressing nicely, and the official invitation has just been released. The organizing committee met on January 17th to discuss the progress of different sections of the project and the tasks still to be done. The meeting was opened by Ms. Heli Karjalainen, Head of the Organizing Committee, who brought the team up to speed on the general matters of the event. After that, the head of each section presented their progress reports.
Mr. Mikko Allinniemi, who is in charge of preparing the competition hall, presented the layout of the hall and told that new tatamis have been ordered and the new special technique and power breaking stands have gone into production.
Head of Communications, Ms. Inka Khanji, presented the communication plan for the event. Please stay tuned to the official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for Euros2016!
Mr. Antti Savolainen, Head of Marketing, explained the different marketing channels for the event. The aim is to attract interest from all walks of life, filling the audience with not only Taekwon-Do enthusiasts but also people without any prior knowledge of martial arts. The marketing material should also be visible in the streets all over the city of Tampere.
The organizing committee along with the graphical designer for the event, Mr. Topi Jalonen, finalized the look of the medals and trophies, and also outlined the future design works.
The competition of this scale isn’t manageable without a large team of volunteers, recruited and scheduled by Ms. Minna Minkkinen. By now, around 50 volunteers have enlisted themselves but we are still recruiting more competition assistants, IT assistants and doctors.
Other matters covered in the meeting included sponsorship deals, security matters, anti-doping matters, opening ceremony, after party and merchandise. After the meeting of over three hours, all members of the organizing committee were brought up to speed and assigned tasks for the coming weeks.
Hope to see you all in Tampere this April!
Best regards,
Ms. Heli Karjalainen
Head of the Organizing Committee
