The year 2015 has started for us with a very important international event: the International Umpire Course in Budapest. As the host of the next World Cup there was an IUC hosted in our Capital City with 138 umpires getting their certificate from 24 countries.

The next event was our yearly National Championship - held in Üllő, next to Budapest, 35 clubs representing themselves with over 300 competitors.

Black belt gradings up to 5th degree - was held by the Hungarian Federation’s President Master László Harmat VIII. degree at the „Central Training Hall” in Budapest. Over 70 black belt candidates has been promoted during a weekend long challenging examination. Among the candidates it is worth to mention that Mr. Attila Solti (member of the AETF Tournament and Umpire Committee) along with Mr. Krisztián Pataki (experienced Instructor and top level international competitor) have earned their V. degrees, and Mr. Balázs Kerekes (international umpire) have earned his IV. degree along with a lot of well known competitors taking the exams.

The next event was also held in Budapest. The „Spirit Open” championship has started as a small competition for lower colour belt students, but now it is has grown to a full-scale open competition for everyone, having international competitors from the neighbouring countries. The Spirit Open was organized by Mr. Péter Szász V.-th degree black belt - the same person who will be the Chairman of the World Cup 2016 Organizing Committee.

National technical seminar was held by Technical Chiefinstructor Mr. Tibor Fülpesi VI.-th Degree. The main goal of this event was to nation-wide standardize and correcting patterns and basic movements and to keep our instructors updated with all of the latest changes based on IIC-s and other International courses.

Cup of Nations – arranged by Mr. Attila Dudás, V. degree – is an open international competition for many years for youth - aiming to have a high level competition for junior practitioners. The competition was held - as usual - in Hatvan, a city in the vicinity to Budapest.

Of course our National Team was participating at the World Championships in Italy winning two bronze, one silver and at the first time of Hungarian Taekwon-do’s history Mr. Norbert Rizmayer has won the first gold medal in senior men’s sparring in a World Championships!

After a year break – because of organizing the European Cup in 2014, the V. Eagles Cup was held again, this time with “Mightyfist” as the naming sponsor of the competition, with 8 countries present. We could see a few “big names” on the competition with world- and european champions present, among them the world famous Katya Solovey, returning to the sake of this competition.

Our team has finished the European Championships with a bronze and two silver medals, returning with a lot of good memories and experiences from Scotland.

The National Student Competition was held in Monor which is regularly held as a sparring and pattern competition for all who are studying in Hungarian schools, encouraging young people to pick up Taekwon-do as an everyday sport activity.

The Open Fuji-Mae Cup was held as rebooting a competition after a few years of break. The interesting part of this competition was that there was a hard-contact category, remembering the ‘old times’ when the warriors of Taekwon-do was sparring very skillful in tough, „hard” contact levels as well.

In 2016 we are looking forward to a successful year, organizing the most important event of ITF Taekwon-do: the World Cup in Budapest.
