On Friday the 4th of December, took place the national championship of the Israel Traditional Taekwon-Do Association ITF, in the city of Ashdod. In the competition participated 200 competitors from different clubs in the cities Ashdod, Zichron Ya'akov, Yoqneam, Haifa and Rehovot, from age 5 to adults, from white belts to II degree black belts.
The competition was divided into three parallel sparring rings, holding a total of 34 categories based on age, rank and weight, according to the rules of the International Taekwon-Do Federation. Firstly the audience witnessed interesting bouts of the older students, boys and girls, and afterwards came to compete all the rest and younger students, in an order which was decided beforehand. It all ran smoothly.
The competition was very well organized, and for this were responsible the 30 members of the organizing team, the referees and the management.
The competition was held in the presence of the board of directors of the Israeli ITF:
Mr. Mario Cosacow – 6th degree, Mr Leonardo Oros Duek – 6th degree, Mr. Danny Roth – 6th degree, Mr. Luis Sajnovetzky – 5th degree, Mr. Sergei Harchenko – 5th degree.
Also was present Mr. Yehiel Lasri, Mayor of Ashdod city, and many members of the municipality.
Sabum-Nim Danny Roth, President of the Association said:
"The national competition takes place alternately in all of the training places in which we are active. For a long time now the Israel Traditional Association ITF is active on an international scale, and for this we receive respect and recognition from the International Federation and other members. Our students, who participate in many international competitions, reach impressive achievements and bring much honor to us and to the State of Israel."
Sabum-Nim Leonardo Oros Duek, Chairman of the Instructing and Techinique committee, told:
"This competition is a preparation for the European Championships and World Cup for the year 2016. From this competition will leave two umpires for the European Championships to be held in Finland on April 2016. This January we will be hosting in Israel the President of ITF, Grand Master Pablo Trajtenberg, who will be arriving to Israel for the first time. In his visit, he will meet with the Minister of Culture and Sport Mrs. Miri Regev, and will present for the first time his "Harmony" program – a special program for senior citizens who want to join and be a part of the world of Taekwon-Do."
Sabum-Nim Luis Sajnovetzky, manager of a Taekwon-Do school in Ashdod and Chairman of the committee for organizations of competitions, said:
"I am very excited for this competition, we feel a great happiness to host it here in Ashdod. The competitors throughout the country have worled very hard to reach this moment and it will be very interesting to watch the older students, some of whom will be competing in international competitions in the upcoming year, and also in the younger students who are our future generation."
