Lesson with Jarosław Suska

On 28th and 29th of November 2015 in Łódź (central Poland), 4th national seminar with Jaroslaw Suska(6th Degree and 6 time World Champion) gathered many Taekwon-Do enthusiasts.

The organizer of such event was the Taekwon-Do Center Club in Łódź, led by Mr. Michal Cytryniak.

Despite the fact that the seminar was dedicated to the colour belts holders, also a big group of instructors and black belt holders participated in it.

In the seminar took part the representatives of the following nineteen clubs: 1. Klub Sportowy Taekwon-do Po-Eun Stargard Szczeciński, 2. WSKT Wrocław, 3. KTT Łódź, 4. ŁCSW Łódź, 5. Warszawski Instytut Taekwon-do KWAN, 6. SSKT Garda Warszawa, 7. Klub Taekwon-do I.T.F. Szczecin, 8. Toruńska Akademia Taekwon-do, 9. KS Centuria Toruń, 10. Azja Pabianice, 11. CZAT Częstochowa, 12. K.S. Wojownik Kłobuck, 13. KS Dragon Janów, 14. PSKT Poznań, 15. NKSW „Bastion” Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, 16. Rzeszowski Klub Taekwon-do, 17. LZS Bełchatowska Akademia Taekwon-do, 18. Bytomski Klub Sportowy Taekwon-Do "Sonso", 19. MKS Lewart AGS Lubartów.

Traditionally, as it was in the past years, among the participants there were holders of high ranked black belts: 6th Degree: Jakub Jegliński, Krzysztof Cywiński, Robert Jasiński and 4th Degree holders: Artur Osuchowski, Gabriel Bednarczyk, Przemysław Ignaciuk, Michał Cytryniak, Sławomir Listkiewicz, Andrzej Chomiuk, Wiktor Karnawalski. Furthermore some members of the Polish National Team, medalist of European and World Championships perfected their skills during the seminar: Monika Wiater – 3rd Degree, Marcin Wronowski – 3rd Degree, Konstanty Łomiński – 1st Degree as well as Karol Bernaciak – 1st Degree.

There were 141 participants of the seminar, devided into two groups. The first group was for the colour belt holders: 10 to 4 cup (up to 14 years old). The line-up of the second group was the holders of 4 cup (above 14 years old) up to 6th Degree.

On Saturday, 28th November, at 9.30 the first group started the training session by improving of the foot and hand techniques. It is worth stressing the great perseverance of the participants, especially the youngest ones (8 years old), who very great-heartedly tried to practice in order not to diverge from their older colleagues. Mr. Suska underlined pretty good technical level of the participants, what was assessed as the effect of a good work of club coaches. The second group started the Saturday session at 11.00 and similarly as the previous one, began with the improving of basic foot and hand techniques.

Everyone, who had ever the opportunity to practice with Mr. Jaroslaw Suska knows what a challenge becomes such a training session. The attendees, properly motivated to do the exercises, ascended to the heights of their skills and founded in themselves determination and will to fight. Of course there was also a good fun and a lot of laugh during the warming up parts. During the morning sessions Mr. Suska did not forgot about the aspects of Taekwon-Do training referred to the “DO”, etiquette as well as the moral principles, which follow the Taekwon-Do practitioners.

At the 14.30 in the afternoon the first group began the work on the patterns’ improvement. In this part Mr. Suska was assisted by Mr. Marcin Wronowski, who helped those less experienced competitors to perform the techniques in a proper way. The second group started its session two hours later also beginning from technical part referring to the particular movements and techniques from pattern. There were also some drills with the use of paths.

However nobody should by deceived by this information, because the pattern training did not mean that it was lighter, easier or less exhaustive – but on the contrary. A part of the afternoon sessions was also the meaningful and acute analysis of the particular techniques of the patterns. Mr. Suska referred to many technical intricacies, underlining the fact of his participation in the International Instructor Courses in November this year in Finland, where he had opportunity to enquire the Grand Masters from the ITF Technical Committee about some details. The Saturday part ended at around 19.00.

On Sunday, 29th November the training sessions started at 10.00 where the participants continued to improve patterns. A significant part of the seminar was dedicated to the step sparring: sambo, ibo and ilbo matsogi.

The seminar finished at 16.30. As in the previous years, at the end of the tutorial the attendees received the certificates of participation.

There was one more attraction for the attendees at the end because some prizes were drawn among the participants. The lucky winners received a CD with Black Belt program, sponsored by Mr. Suska, two books “Taekwon-Do; The Art of Patterns” sponsored by its author Mr. Lukasz Grygiel, 3rd Degree and two books: “Power in domestic conditions” sponsored by its author Mr. Artur Osuchowski, 4th Degree.

The next, already 5th national seminar for color belts with Mr. Jarosław Suska will take place in one year on 5th -6th November 2016, but we invite to Łódź already today.
