On 15 November 2015 in “Hristo Botev” sports hall, Sofia, Bulgaria for 13-th consecutive year Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do and Central Police Taekwon-Do Club together with the Sports Association of Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria organized the National Martial Sports Festival. This year the Festival was limited in only one day and in the Taekwon-Do ITF competition participated 73 athletes from 16 clubs aged 12 years and above. The participants competed in the individual of Sparring, Pattern, Special Tecnique and Power Test.
In this edition on the Festival on invitation of Vencislav Ignatov – President of Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do we had as official guest Master James Tijn-A-Ton – President of ITF Netherlands and Member of Tournament & Umpire Committee of AETF. We had the possibility to make an extensive Umpire meeting the day before the competition where were discussed many matters and details about umpiring. Master James expressed his positive opinion about the possibilities and ease of use of the Bulgarian scoring system and also he was able to see the first event where was used the wireless version of the system for Special Techniques discipline which received also very positive feedback from the Umpires who worked with it on this Tournament.
The day before the Tournament Master James together with his wife Liesbeth had a little time make a short sightseeing tour through the center of Sofia accompanied by Mr. Orlin Hristov – Chief Umpire of the competition next day and also tasted some typical Bulgarian cuisine.
All of the members of BAT had really good time with Master James and his wife and we hope to have more future opportunities to meet more often.
