On the weekend of 3-4 October, 2015, the V. “Mightyfist” Eagles Cup was held. After a break of the last year because of organizing the VI. AETF European Cup, the Sasok Sport Club’s leaders have decided that they would like to continue the event series.

8 countries participants have registered for the event, with more than 310 competitors. the contestants have arrived from Austria, Romania, Czech Republic, Georgia, Ukraine, France, Moldova, and of course from Hungary. There was also one competitor from the United Arab Emirates – but as they have no federation yet, he registered himself with the Georgian team.

The competition has started with the Opening Ceremony – Master László Harmat has opened the event with his wise words, which was followed by the public awarding of the Hungarian medalists of the World Championships, Jesolo. Mr. Jonathan Morris has spoke a few words as the owner of the European branch of the new naming sponsor, "Mightyfist" of the event series.

After the opening, the actual competition has started with the children and cadet categories on Saturday. With a bit of time shifts, the originally planned senior categories for Saturday had to be shifter to Sunday, but the organizers and the team leading the umpires has managed it pretty well, so by the end of the competition, they were back on schedule. For this, the organizers would like to express their thanks to Mr. Attila Solti (member of the AETF Umpire Committee) and Mr. Attila Gombos (umpire on many international competitions, such as at the World Championships in Jesolo), they have managed the team of umpires very well. the umpires were using the same Hungarian scoring system which was proven on the European Cup last year.

It was very pleasant to see a few Hungarian umpires on an outstanding performance, giving a high standard for the competition. Mr. Attila Solti said that we are lucky to have a few very good candidates who can become very good on international level as well.

The more exciting matches were held on Sunday – we have seen a few world champion on the mats (not mentioning all of them), such as the new champion, Norbert Rizmayer from Hungary, Catalin Topai, Vlad Gavruta, Nikolett Berei from Romania or Ivan Gryshchuk, Vitalii Solovey, and the world famous Katya Solovey from Ukraine. (See separate article about Katya’s return to competing at http://www.itfeurope.org/NL2015-03-30.html). This competition – as usual – used a round-robin system (used in both patterns and sparring categories), which meant that the competitors were put into groups with a maximum of 5 competitors, who had to contest each other, giving them a lot more opportunity to practice. It takes a lot more effort to organize everything, takes longer, but the main goal of the organizer is to keep this system which is loved by the competitors (because of the mentioned advantages).

This event was a great milestone marking the improvement of the event series which Sasok Sports Club, lead by Gábor Szalay and Csaba Békássy has started in 2010. What would express it better: the teams from across the borders are increasing both in numbers and in the number of competitors they bring with themselves, and the fact, as Mr. Oleg Solovey expressed: Katya was competing again because of their good relationship with the Hungarians, so she was back on the mats for the sake of their beloved competition.

The organizing committe is still aiming high: the next event will be held in a bigger sports hall (the location of the last European Cup), expecting more competitors. Because of the World Cup to be held in October 2016 in Budapest again, the organizers will skip yet another year, but the VI. Eagles Cup will be a memorable event, worth to save the date whenever it will be decided.

The overall categories were won by

I. Tápió-Monor SE
II. TKD Spirit
III. Buday TKD SE

The organizers would like to express their gratitude to the staff team and team of umpires they have worked very hard to keep this competition on this high level, and giving many thanks to all the teams participating on their event.
