Master Hutton Hosts Legends

The weekend of September 12/13 2014 turned out to be one of the highlights of my Taekwon-Do career! MHF (Master Hutton Fitness) brought two of Taekwon-Do very best pound for pound TKD Sparrer's ever to Glasgow for two days of sparring seminars to celebrate its 25th Anniversary.

Sabum Tomaz Barada VI Degree & Sabum Stephen Tapilatu V Degree, as we all know Multiple World Champions, graciously agreed to help Master Hutton celebrate his Academy's most special event with two days of seminars, ranging from kids as young as 5 yrs old right up to the golden oldies, including Masters Hutton & Campins as well as Sabum's McGowan & McGhee all long term friends of Master Hutton & in the case of Sabum McGowan V, Master Hutton's longest serving student having trained under Master Hutton for the past 23 years.

For Master Hutton the visit of two such friends was indeed a special event in itself, however, even he could not have foreseen the success of this event, quite simply these two Sparring Legends are great when taking their own seminars, however, combine the two & you will not witness a better Sparring seminar anywhere.

Both SaBums have an exceptional understanding of how the other teaches their interaction when teaching drills & stating their own sparring philosophies is a joy to behold!!

Everyone participating & watching commented on the joy of watching two such warriors seamlessly interacting, going from drill to drill given fully of themselves & obviously loving every minute of what they do & I have no doubt enjoying it more because they were doing it together...

Saturday September 12th was Blackbelt day, with numbers exceeding Master Hutton's expectations, Sabum McGowan graciously offered his Academy as the venue, 45 Blackbelts including Master Jamie Campins VII who travelled down from Aberdeen to participate filled the Academy, what followed over the next three and a half hours was truly exceptional, both SaBums started from the outset with such infectious enthusiasm each & every participant was buzzing from start to finish.

Every member felt they had learned so much from the way these SaBums interacted & explained their philosophies & although every single one was completely exhausted well before the end, no one wanted the day to end.

Master Hutton presented both SaBums with special Scottish friendship cups known as Quaichs, these are given to honoured guests & friends & symbolise the bonds that last a lifetime!!

The day ended with t-shirts & autographs signed along with endless photographs as everyone wanted a memento of such a special day.

Sunday was coloured belt day & started with 23 5-7yr olds from Master Hutton's Academy many in their Taekwon-Do KUBZ suits & gloves, it was a joy to see.

Parents/Carers were not quite sure how this seminar would go, as we all know taking kids so young is never easy, however again both SaBums were incredible & set the tone for the day Fun Fun Fun!! These kids were screaming with joy & the parents were often in hysterics watching.

Then it was the turn of our 8-12s & the fun really stepped up, make no mistake these kids worked & learned so much, however, it must be said the real highlight was both SaBums challenging every single one of the 60 kids to firstly a 1-1 fight, often on their knees, & it has to be said taking some great shots from the kids, to the rapturous applause of the substantial crowds watching.

Then Sabum Barada got all parents on their feet & creating two noise filled rings both SaBums took on everyone at once, both were already dripping with sweat when 60 kids engulfed them & had the time of their life!!

Everyone of my students & parents etc left with huge smiles on their faces & nothing but respect & admiration for both SaBums!!

Now that's a successful day!!

The last seminar saw our coloured belt adults as well as some National team members (back for more) spend the last two hours of the day enjoying the same level of enthusiasm showed to each & every student, whether they were a World Champion or it was their first ever seminar I saw both these Sparring Legends fully immersed in each & every one.

Master Hutton said,

"Simply put my people had the time of their lives, I am overwhelmed by both SaBums & enormously grateful both these great friends came to Scotland & inspired each & every competitor, including myself, ensuring all that attended left feeling great about themselves.

For me that is Taekwon-Do at it very best!!"

Special thanks to all TKD Scotland & Scotia Instructors under Mr David Condie V, as well as the members of ITF Scotland who took the time to come & celebrate with us, it is so appreciated.

"I cannot recommend highly enough The Sparring Legend Seminars to all groups, make no mistake from beginner to World Champion all will be inspired"
