Sakhalin, which is about one fifth of the size of Japan, is just located along the east coast of Russia and just north of Japan.
In this beautiful island from 29/07/2014 to 01/08/2014 took place a very interesting event. There was a big celebration dedicated to 150 years of voluntary resettlement of Korean people from their homeland Korea to Russia. The celebration was devided in 3 major cities of the island.
It started in Kholmsk (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kholmsk).
Then the event was continued in Nevelsk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevelsk.
And finally ended in the capital of Sakhalin iland called Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
In every city the celebration was organized by Russian Koreans and had full support of local Governmant and administration. The most interesting part was the demonstrations of Taekwon-Do presented by the teams from both North and South Korea!
Because we are practicing ITF I will tell about North Korean demonstration team. Their team was just perfect and very professional. Every time the audience was waiting their performance and was giving a very warm applause to all athletes who really deserved it!
Because all ITF instructors that are working in Sakhalin island are members of all Russia Taekwon-Do ITF federation I had the pleasure to be invited in this historical moment when in Russian Land the two parts of Korea North and South was giving their beautiful performance. It was also a great pleasure to meet there our friend Mister Ananoly Terechov the President of WTF Taekwon-Do Union of Russia.
Having the opportunity I want to express my sincere gratitude to ITF leaders of our federation in Sakhalin Mr Vitalu Chun, Mr Sergey Sin and Mr An SooHagi.
