It is with heartfelt sadness and sorrow that I must inform our Taekwon-do family of the loss of one of our members. My sister Marcia Griffith 3rd degree lost her battle with cancer at the age of 52 on June 30th after two and a half years of fighting the illness.
As a Taekwon-do student she drew upon her indomitable spirit every step of the way and demonstrated that even in the face of adversity, if you fight hard enough there is always hope.
Marcia began training with me in 1997 and went on to become the most amazing Instructor to all she came into contact with. Marcia's legacy in our art will be that through the tenets of Taekwon-do she was able to help students of all ages, she had the unique ability to spread her knowledge and infectious personality to all who she came into contact with. She lived to help others and everybody loved Marcia for this.
Last April while she was on a break from her chemotherapy she was promoted to 3rd degree, it was truly inspirational for me to see her dedicate herself to her training once again and to be so determined not to let her illness get in the way of her passion.
To all that had the pleasure of meeting my sister, you will agree that we have lost a great woman.
I would like to thank my Taekwon-do family for support and sympathy through this difficult time.
Regards,
Mr Nick Symonds
6th degree
