31st FITAE Championship

The 31st Italian Championship, organized by FITAE-ITF in in Rimini, registered 379 competitors divided in Cadets , Juniors and Seniors. President Master Carmine Caiazzo, along with GM Wim Bos Technical Director, opened the competition greeting the athletes and the audience.

Mr. Carli, Canteri, and Mandosio, members of FITAE Competition Committee, made a fantastic work in organizing and planning the Sportshall Flaminio, the rings and the time schedule. All the divisions run on time, smoothly and no complains were registerd. At the same time a great job was made by the Umpire Committee, composed by Mr. Minotti, Cendron and Maragoni, that conducted three Umpire Courses in Italy and selected 54 referees for the championship. They all worked hard but in a relaxed atmosphere and made this Championship as the best ever in FITAE-ITF history.

The the first day of competition saw the hall with 6 rings (8x8) + 1 area for special techniques and, in the second day the organization set 8 rings + 1 area for power test. Coaches, competitors and instructors cooperated and gave birth to a high level of competition. The national coach Mr. Leandro Iagher and his assistants, Master Cammarota, Mr. Iovane, Mr. Saccomanno and Mrs. Riccio, had the chance to see their work confirmed by the high performances of the national competitors that showed a very good physical and tactical preparation.

Davide Messineo and Timothy Bos, World Champions in Spain 2013, won the national titles in their divisions (senior -85 kg and junior -62 kg), in addition Bos won the trophy as best Junior competitor with an other gold in Pattern 2nd degree and a silver in Special Techniques. Mr. Massimo Persia won two gold medals in Pattern 4th degree and higher for the 9th time and in Traditional Sparring with one of his students.

Master Ciro Cammarota, together with Mr. Amato, Mr. De Lucia and the athletes of the Crew Fighters, from Neaples, won the trophy as best partecipating association celebrating the victory with great enthusiasm.

From now on FITAE-ITF will concentrate all its efforts and skills in the organization of the European Championship, in Riccione from 23-27 April 2014, and will be honoured to meet all the European friends over there.
