The beginning of 2014 has been quite intense in the Hungarian Taekwon-do scenes.

After AETF granting the Hungarian Taekwon-do Federation, lead by Master László Harmat (VIII degree) the opportunity to organize the European Cup this year in Budapest, ITF assigned the same Federation the responsibility of organising the World Cup in 2016, as per the results of an online voting. Not only these two important news stirred up the Taekwon-do life of Hungary but the of the National Team has also been completely restructured.

Mr. Csaba Békássy (IV. degree) - the new Head Coach of the National Team
The Team was originally led by Mr. Tibor Fülpesi (VI degree) who did a really outstanding work, but he was more like a one-man trainer of the Red-White-Green Team. After last year’s World Championships in Benidorm the Hungarian ITF Board realised that they need a lot of changes related to the functioning of the National Team. The Board decided to appoint Mr. Csaba Békássy (IV degree) as Head Coach. His role is completely different than the previous role of the leader: his job is more like a manager who organises participation in international events and also the training sessions of the National Team.

There are many small changes in the rules and structure of the training sessions. The most important things that have changed are as follows:

On the training session of the national team in the new system
Mr. Tibor Fülpesi (VI. degree) - the previous Head Coach, new Head Instructor of the Hungarian TKD Federation in 2008 in Wrocław, Poland.

The team will have more events organised - not just the training sessions but training camps or some recreational activities together, in order to have a stronger team spirit.

The previous captain Mr. Tibor Fülpesi has been appointed the Head Technical Instructor of the Hungarian Taekwon-do Federation which means he would conduct seminars in order to get a more unified and standardised way of teaching Taekwon-do throughout the country and to spread the latest changes from international events like IICs and IUCs.

Another important change in the Hungarian Taekwon-do life is that the Federation would like to concentrate on teaching umpires in order to ensure better and more accurate feedback for the competitors, which would allow them to train and develop their skills further in a more focused way.
