Master Harry Vones in Luxemburg

Master Harry Vones, VII Degree of ITF-Germany, conducted a seminar on Fundamental Movements and Step-Sparring in Troisvierges, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, following an invitation of Taekwon-donorden, the local Taekwon-Do - Club affiliated to ITF-Luxembourg. Master Harry Vones was accompanied by his son Mathias. (To many of those present Mathias Vones, a IV Degree Master of ITF-Germany, is a well known and successful competitor at recent International Championships.)

About 60 Taekwon-Do - Students had gathered in the spacious hall on Sunday, February 23, coming from Belgium, Germany, France and, of course, from Luxembourg, representing all Grades and all Degrees up to the VII.

The organizer of the event, Master Hardy Viktor, IV Degree and Instructor of the hosting club, welcomed all participants and introduced Master Harry Vones. Right in time Master Harry Vones started the first part of the Seminar at 10 o'clock a.m. with Fundamental Movements, putting the main emphasis on the sine wave. Due to the significance of the sine wave movement in the ITF-Taekwon-Do, Master Harry Vones explained all physical aspects of the movement down to the smallest detail.

In between Master Harry Vones performed various techniques showing what sine wave is all about, then asked the Students to perform and train...

Master Harry Vones enhanced the studies on sine wave by taking a closer look on specific motions such as natural motion, continuous motion, connecting motion and fast motion. Based on very impressive and illustrating slides (video sequences with a cross-faded timeline diagram) Master Harry Vones explained the differences between these motions. Another training session closed the first part of the seminar at 12.30.

After a 45-minute lunch break Master Harry Vones resumed the teaching and got into Step-Sparring. Using again impressive slides Master Harry Vones led the eyes at first on the stances and how to measure them. With the knowledge of the dimensions of the stances he went on to Step-Sparring. Master Harry Vones pointed out how extremely important the distance between the two players in Step-Sparring is, which is defined through a correct measuring, depending on the stances used. Together with his son Mathias Master Harry Vones performed several examples of 1-Step, 2-Step and 3-Step-Sparring.

After every upcoming question had been answered and cleared, all participants looked for a partner and commenced training. While all students were practising, Master Harry Vones had an eye on everybody, correcting and supporting them and answering further questions. At almost 4 o'clock p.m. Master Harry Vones closed the Seminar looking into happy but also tired faces. But before the crowd dispersed many took the chance for short dicussings and shooting pictures.

Last but not least goes a big „Thank You“ to Mr. Miguel Brito from the hosting club for his impressive translation from German into French.
