On the past weekend 11th – 12th January 2014 in Wrocław took place the Central Polish Umpire Course. The participants could apply during the course for the umpire class “D”, “C” and “B”. The classes were conducted by Mr. Roman Lewicki – the PTA Director for umpire matters and Mr. Krzysztof Cywiński – International “A” Class Umpire.
To the capitol of Region Lower Silesia in Poland welcomed 29 attendees of the schooling. They were divided in to two groups. The candidates for the “D” class certificate started their classes on Saturday at 10 am. The rest of the group joined at 2 pm.
The course comprehended the items regarding the sport competition in Taekwon-Do. The first day the instructors conferred the umpires rules of the pattern and special techniques. The second day was dedicated to the power test and sparring. Mr. Lewicki and Mr. Cywinski took care to communicate not only the elements of theory but they also raised many questions for discussion about frequent situations taking place in the competition. They put the attention of the participants to the mistakes taken while umpiring. Many practical advices were given by Mr. Adam Alenowicz, the host of the course.
Also some members of the Polish National Team took part in the course. They joined the discussion on differences about umpiring at the national and international competitions.
The course was very much appreciated and well evaluated by the participants. It was one of the elements of the preparation for Polish umpires to the sport season 2014 in Poland.
