Svea Cup Report

This year version of Svea Cup was held on 10th of November in the town of Södertälje, were the competition once started up back in 2007. Södertälje is located 35km south of the Swedish capital Stockholm and has a population about 90000. This year the competition also changed a little bit. From being a smaller Swedish competition, Svea Cup went to be one of the biggest Swedish competitions with about 260 competitors from age 8 to senior black belts. Also this year Svea Cup was international, like last year, and this is thanks to some clubs from Denmark and Finland who participated.

The competition was performed on five rings and in categories patterns and sparring. All beginners (9-7kup) had traditional pyramid system in sparring but all 6kup and higher had pyramid with re-pasage or league-system.

At Svea Cup 7 you could see some national team members competing, even though world championships wad just two weeks ago. You could also see former Swedish national team members coaching and referee.

Some fights offered a very high quality, and some minior and cadets were really amazing. It´s going to be exiting to follow their progress to next level and maybe one day see them at the world championships. Even if we see high level and competitive spirit in the youngest competitors, the most important thing is that they have fun and if they have fun they will hopefully stay in Taekwon-Do.

As organizer I want to thank all competitors, referees and coaches that did a good work to make the competition go smooth the hole day.

And a special thank you to these people: Master Swavek Dydiszko, 7 dan (secretary of Svea Cup 7), Ms. Mimmi Oskarson, 6 dan (head referee of Svea Cup 7), Ms. Petra Dydisko, 5 dan (secretary of Svea Cup 7), Mr. Johan Andersson, 2 dan (organization committee).
