INTA Black Belt Promotions

The Irish National Taekwon-Do Association held their Summer black belt promotions this on Sunday the 16th of June in the Radisson Hotel, Little Island, Cork. With just over 40 people grading from 1st to 6th Degree, the event ran with two panels. The grading commenced at 10am with floor movements, patterns, step sparring and self-defence. The second part of the grading consisted of sparring while the final part of the grading examined students’ theory, special technique and destruction. Students grading from 1st Kup to 1st Degrees were tested under a panel of five consisting of Mr. Nigel Stobie (VI), Mr. Christy Fagan (VI), Mr. Alan Troy (VI), Mr. Paul Floody (IV) and Mr. Ray Connor (IV) while those students grading for 2nd degree and above graded under the Master panel of Master Brendan O’Toole (VIII), Master Val Douglas (VIII) and Master Gerry Martin (VII).

Students as young as eleven years should excellent technical capability throughout the examination while the more senior grades including Mr Matthew Troy and Mr Colm Ryan grading to 4th degree and Mr. Ken Leahy grading to 6th degree showed expert level of technique throughout every stage of the grading.
