The 5-th European Taekwon-Do Cup is already history. The competition was held on 1st - 3rd March 2013 in Samokov city, Bulgaria and gathered participants, coaches, umpires and officials from 22 countries: Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Finland, Former Republic of Macedonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Ukraine.
The competition took place in “Arena Samokov” Sports hall where 193 competitors from 33 clubs was divided in juniors, seniors, color belts and black belts and according to the European Taekwon-Do Cup rules, participated in the disciplines individual and team pattern, sparring and team traditional sparring.
For the smooth conduction of the event was responsible 25 member umpire team with Chief Umpire Mr. Attila Solti from Hungary who had the possibility to use the Bulgarian scoring point system during the whole competition. The Organizing Committee of the competition has provided additional staff of 15 assistants.
We were very happy to have 4 members of the AETF Board of Directors present to the competition – Master Tadeusz Loboda, Master Jerzy Jedut, Master Lazaros Tsilfidis, Mr. Leonardo Oros Duek and also Master Panagiotis Gialamas - member of the AETF Revisory Commission.
During the official opening ceremony on 2 March Master Tadeusz Loboda on behalf of AETF as promoter of the Event gave gratitude letters for the organization of the 5-th European Taekwon-Do Cup to Mr. Svilen Neykov – Minister of Physical Education and Sports, Mr. Kalin Georgiev – President of Sports Association of Ministry of Interior, Mr. Ivan Mladenov – Secretary General of Sports Association of Ministry of Interior, Mr. Vladimir Georgiev – Mayor of Samokov municipality, Mr. Attila Solti – Chief Umpire of the 5-th European Taekwon-Do Cup, Mr. Vencislav Ignatov – President of Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do and Mr. Yavor Tasev – Secretary General of Bulgarian Association of Taekwon-Do.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the competition Mr. Ivan Mladenov – Secretary General of Sports Association of Ministry of Interior personally handed gratitude plaque to Master Tadeusz Loboda as President of AETF for the support of the competition.
After the official part of the ceremony the Survivor school “Bagatur” presented attractive demonstration of ancient Bulgarian martial techniques.
The competition was the first official tournament held according the new ITF Tournament Rules which came in force on January 1st, 2013. The implementation of the new rules caused a vivid discussion among coaches, competitors and umpires.

On 3 March after the awarding ceremony, on occasion the national holiday of Bulgaria, all guests had the possibility to watch the performance of one of the most popular Bulgarian folkloric dance groups “Pirin”.
