Mark Trotter Seminar

32 students from South Queensferry TKD, MSBA, Leith TKD and Fife came to learn from Traditional Sparring World Champion and Vice World Champion -54kg Mark Trotter IV deg from New Zealand.

The week before the spectacular seminar Mark had been traveling around Europe with his sparring partner Carl Van Roon to gain European experience for the upcoming World Championships in Spain. They travelled to Holland to train with World Champion Stephen Tapilatu, Finland to take a seminar, back to Holland to take a seminar for Master Willy Van de Mortal the Mark Came to Scotland. I was very honoured and humbled that Mark wanted to learn from me. It was a great experience to train one on one with such a dedicated and talented practitioner.

After out week of training 32 students from the age of 10 were so excited at the prospect of Marks seminar.

The morning session consisted of may different aspects of traditional sparring, learning the rules, how to fall, roll, spin, jump to add too and the techniques used from the encyclopaedia in TKD.

Mr Trotter brought much fun to learning and his knowledge and experience, not to miss out his amazing ability, impressed everyone who attended.

He was a very humble teacher who explained and demonstrated the way a good instructor should and of course the way of a world champion. Not all world champions can teach their skills to others, he most certainly can.

The afternoon session consisted of learning how to flip and put together traditional sparring with a partner.

The smiles on everyone's faces told me how much they loved Mr Trotter being here.

To finish we had 1 hour of sparring drills, some different from my own, which is always great for my students to learn from other instructors who have great knowledge and ideas.

For me, I learned very much. As we should never tire of learning. It has helped me to understand traditional sparring more and some new ideas for class and sparring. I can speak for everyone in saying we were all sore the next day.

Thank you Mr Trotter. You have been an inspiration to all who attended, including myself. They have all been watching films to see your stunt work before and even more now after your awesome seminar.

Thanks you from us all. You are most welcome back anytime. Thank you for taking the time with my international competitors and your advice to them.

Kind regards and respect
Julia Cross V Dan
