2nd South Eastern Europe Championships

The city of Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine hosted the 2nd South-Eastern European Championship and 3rd «Ivano-Frankivsk Open" of Taekwon-Do. The competition of this range in Ivano-Frankivsk is really unprecedented. The tournament was attended by teams from nine different countries. The athletes came to Ivano-Frankivsk from Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia and Ukraine. The host country Ukraine was represented by the teams from Kyiv, Crimea, Kirovograd, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Rivne, Dnipropetrovsk, Lutsk, Odessa, Chernivtsi and of course Ivano-Frankivsk. Around 400 athletes took part in general in the tournament.

The tournament was held on four rings in Sport Complex Precarpathian National University. The participants were divided into the following five age groups: 10 years, 11-14 years, 15-17 years, 18-35 years and senior advanced over 36 years old. Competition was held in three different divisions of Taekwon-Do: sparring, traditional sparring and pattern, individual and team. 42 umpires were working during tournament. The results of the tournament will be announced soon.

On Saturday evening, November 10th, at the first day of the competition the grand opening ceremony took place. The final gala with the best final matches was visited by about 3000 people from Ivano-Frankivsk and was a great event for Ivano-Frankivsk.

The next 3rd South Eastern Europe Championships will also be held in the Ivano-Frankivsk in autumn 2013.
