National Champs Norway 2012

The National Championship in ITF Taekwon-Do in Norway took place in Trondheim, October 26th-28th 2012. It was organized by Trondheim Taekwon-Do club, which is the largest club in Norway with more than 1400 members. The national Championships was sanctioned by the Norwegian Martial Arts Federation and the Norwegian Sports Federation.

Over 400 competitors, 41 judges, 126 coaches and over 40 volunteers made the championship a great success. The participants came from 50 clubs from all over Norway. For the first time in history His Majesty the Kings Award was given to best senior male and female in ITF Taekwon-Do. This is the highest recognition and award a sport athlete can get in Norway.

At the opening ceremony 410 participants went into the hall club by club and it was a great moment when they all bowed and then read the students oath in front of our official guests and 2400 spectators. 250 kids entered the hall, and had a great demonstration. It was impressing, especially when an 8 years old yellow belt girl performed the Dan Gun tul alone. The major of Trondheim, Rita Ottervik, made the official opening. The championship also had a lot of official guests from Norwegian Martial Arts Federation. From the Netherlands Master Willy Van der Mortel was invited as a guest. Master Willy will from 2013 work as the NTN national coach in sparring.
