The Irish National Taekwon-Do Association (INTA) is delighted to announce their affiliation to the Irish Taekwondo Union (ITU) as Associate Members with effect from Sunday 15th July 2012.
Commenting on this historical event INTA President Master Brendan O’Toole (VIII Degree)
“We in the INTA are delighted to announce this historical step for the development of both the ITF and WTF styles of Taekwon-Do here in Ireland. The benefits for our INTA members include Garda Vetting, Irish Sports Council recognition, Coaching Courses and access to Olympic training for our next generation of young sporting hopefuls. There is the opportunity for both organisations to share training programmes, seminars and develop a shared vision for the future of Taekwon-Do. I personally would like to thank the tireless efforts of our own Board members and in particular Mr Martin Flemming ITU President in driving this forward and making it a reality. Both the INTA and the ITU’s independent futures are secure and we look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership – Taekwon- Do, No Politics”
ITU President Mr Martin Fleming (IV Degree)
“Since my election as president of the ITU, my main ambition as been to increase participation in WTF Taekwondo in Ireland. The ITU believes that we must work with all like minded individuals to achieve this goal. The ITU has a duty to all martial artists in this country to provide a pathway for their goals, whether it is a World or Olympic medal, coaching qualification or world recognised black belt certification. We are very happy that a large organisation such as the INTA share our vision and we welcome them as associate members, it is a solid endorsement of the new ITU strategy. I would like to thank the ITU executive committee for their hard work”
The Irish Taekwondo Union (ITU) is the only officially recognised national Taekwondo association in Ireland in respect of WTF Taekwondo. The ITU are officially recognised by the WTF, Olympic Council of Ireland and Irish Sports Council.
