25th Jubilee Polish Senior Champ

25th Jubilee Polish Senior Taekwondo-do Championship were organized under the auspices of Mayor Waldemar Wardzinski on June 8-10 2012 in Ciechanow.

A hundred and fifty five competitors from 32 clubs and 11 provinces participated in this championship. They we selected based on ranking after qualifications at the Poland Cup in Pruszcz Gdanski and Grand Prix in Klobuck.

Ciechanow is a small is a town in north-central Poland with slightly under 50000 inhabitants. It is situated in Masovian Voivodeship 80 km from Warsaw. The city is well known for XIV century Castle of the Mazovian Dukes.

LKS Matsogi, organizer of the 25th Poland Championship celebrated 25th anniversary of Taekwon-do in Ciechanow and 20th anniversary of trainings lead by Michal Korzybski, a President and a head coach of the club as well as one of the main trainers of the National Polish Man Team.

Organizing the Championship in Ciechanow was a great way to celebrate all three anniversaries.

Michal Korzybski is very experienced in organizing not only national but also international championship. He had successfully organized: International Taekwon-do Match with participation teams of Poland-England-Finland-Sweden-Germany-Russia-Ukraine in 2006, also International Tournaments Masters Mazowia Cup in 2007-2011, Polish Cup 2002 and multiple macro regional competition.

The organizer has made every effort to ensure organizational excellence at the high European level. Also trophies and prizes were extraordinary.

Contests were happening at the 4 fight and patterns fields and one designed for special techniques and power tests. Patterns and fights were going on successfully with no delays. The breaks in the completion were happening accordingly to the agenda. All competitors rated accommodation and organization of the competition very highly.

Because the 25th Poland Taekwon-do Champoinship were happening at the same time as the opening match Euro 2012 in socer, Michal Korzybski created mini spectator zone for trainers and referees so that all interested could watch a Poland-Greece match on the big screen. This definitely created a great atmosphere the day before competition.

The Competition was played at a very high level, with a great atmosphere and incredible emotional engagement of seconds. An indirect prize of this completion was participation in Taekwon-Do World Cup in October.

Despite of the presence of the authorities of the Polish Taekwon-do Associaction, Opening Ceremony and Final Gala was also honored with the presence of: Mr. Andrzej Pawlowski Vice-Governor of District of Ciechanow, Mr. Cezary Chodkowsk, Vicemayor of City of Ciechanow, Mrs. Agnieszka Korzybska- Director of the Polish Spoldzielczy Bank in Ciechanow, Mr. Eugeniusz Mazinski, Director of the School No. 1 in Ciechanow.

Media were represented by reporter Waldemar Nicman and regional TV Ciechanow.

Title of The Best Female Competitor went to Ilona Dziala MKS AGS Lewart Lubartów winning two gold medals: in sparring up to 58 kg and patterns II Dan.

Similar medal achievement had the best The Best Male Competitor Piotr Pelka form Ludowy Klub Sportowy Matsogi Ciechanów winning also 2 gold medals in fights over 80 kg and special techniques and 1 bronze medal in power tests.

The title of The Best Coach was awarded to Lukasz Stawarz from Leginicki Taekwon-do Club.

The best competitor s and the trainer have received scooters founded by Skan from Przasnysz.

Ciechanow classification is as follows:
1st place: Legnicki Klub TKD earining 5 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze medals,
2nd place : MKS "Lewart" AGS Lubartów uzyskujac 5 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze medals,
3rd place: Wroclawski Sportowy Klub TKD uzyskujac 4 gold, 2 silver, 8 bronze medals,
4th place: LKS Matsogi Ciechanów uzyskujac 4 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze medals,
5th place : Czestochowska Akademia TKD 3 gold, 1 silver medal.

The top competitors took part in the cometition presenting a very high level of preparation. It is also very important to mention 3 interesting facts:
1. Jaroslaw Suska from MKS Lewart Lubartów earned for the 20th time a tiltle of Master of Poland in patterns. He also is the only competitor who had participated in all 25 competition.
2. Karol Bernaciak from Centrum Taekwon-Do Lodz got back his lost last year title of Master of Poland in Power Tests.
3. MKS Lewart Lubartów didn’t get back a lead position in medal classification. They won 16 times pir to this event. Now Legnicki Taekwon-do club took the lead by one silver medal.

Next event in Ciechanow will be 6th Edition of th International master Mazowia Cup. The Cup will be held 23-25 November 2012. The competition will be played in accordance with the new ITF Regulations.
