On the 2nd of June 2012 the Danube Cup took place at Sports Centre Strebersdorf. With almost 90 participants it was one of the biggest tournaments in Austria in recent years. The Club “Yom-Chi” hosted its first tournament and they not only arranged a perfect tournament environment concerning sports hall and surroundings but also managed to present a famous Austrian boxing champion, Biko Botuwamungu as special guest star.

 

Like in the last 4 tournaments the club “Guk-Gi” achieved the overall club victory, but it was a very close decision. The club “Yom-Chi” obtained the same number of gold and silver medals, but with a count of 9 against 1 in the bronze medals “Guk-Gi” made it again.

The tournament offered six categories for participation:

• Individual Sparring

• Individual Pattern

• Team Pattern

• Team Sparring

• Special Technique

• Power Test

This competition is again a big step in the right direction for the future of ITF-Austria. Especially the implemented training program for Kids is already beginning to show its results, about one third of the participants were Kids. We hope to conquer the limit of 100 participants with our next tournament.
