Polish Younger Junior Championship

Beginning this year Taekwon-do has been withdrawn from the disciplines played at Polish Youth Olympics. We were afraid this would result in decreased number of applicants (lack of central financing - cost of participating covered by parent clubs). That didn’t happen. In fact 210 competitors from 40 clubs and 12 provinces participated in the tournament held at the weekend of June 1st to June 3rd 2012 in Nova Ruda-Slupiec.

The host of this competition was Grzegorz Ozimek, a VP and a head trainer at the MKST Bystrzyca Klodzka, and one of the trainers of the Polish Female National Team. It is not the first time he has organized such an event. He successfully organized other events such as: Polish Senior Championship in 1993, Polish Junior Championship in 2000, Poland Cup in 2005, Charitable International Game: Poland-Sweden in 1997 to benefit an Orphanage in Klodzko damaged by the flood, match Poland-Uzbekistan in 1998 and multiple other competition.

The Championship was very well organized. The competitors were accommodated at the Hotel of Tourists- Sport Center equipped with a sport hall that met PZTKD regulations requirements. It fit very well 4 fields for fights and 1 field for special techniques and separate area for the competitors. Those who attended Central Taekwon-do Summer Camps were very familiar with the facility. Well done advertising banners, spectacular trophies, prizes for the best competitors, medals, all that showed how well organized event that was.

In this particular competition of Polish Younger Juniors general rating is based on points earned, not on number of medals won. Such system is only applied at the Younger Juniors Competition. At all other competition medal rating system is mandatory.
