INTA Jee-Goo Brooklodge Annual Open

The recent Jee-Goo Brooklodge friendly was held in Little Island Sports Complex in Cork and attracted over 160 colour belts from all over the country. This year the tournament was delighted to have Master Brendan O'Toole (INTA President), Master Gerry Martin and Master Pat O'Rourke as VIPs and umpires. The tournament was also very lucky to have a strong number of umpires including sixth degrees, Mr. Paul Delea and Mr. Nigel Stobie on the ring councils.

The event kicked off with four rings at 10am with white, yellow and green belt patterns and blue to red special technique for 12 and under. The special technique saw red and blue belts make great heights with Ben O'Driscoll (blue belt -Brooklodge) gaining first place at a height of 1 metre 80 centimetres. The white belts showed very strong performances right throughout all of the age categories including special technique. All patterns were completed by 12.00pm and sparring began in four rings for all age groups. 14-16 years blue to red belts illustrated some excellent bouts with intelligent use of the ring and some exceptional head shots.

The tournament drew to close at two thirty and all remaining students and umpires assisted brooklodge members in the tidy up. The Troy family would like to thank all the Masters and Umpires that assisted on the day and all those club members who help set the hall up the night before including John Mc Grath for his tireless photography available on the jeegoobrooklodge website.
