ITF and AETF Officially Approved Safety Equipment and Official Dobok and Belt Requirements for the European Championship, Slovenia 2012
NO OTHER safety equipment is currently approved, or permitted, for use in AETF European Championships 2012, Maribor, Slovenia, 2012.

Due to the current contractural agreement with TOP TEN, the AETF are obliged to ensure that all competitors at the European Championships in Maribor 2012 use TOP TEN sparring equipment only, there will be sets to borrow during the Euros for those team not in possession of the appropriate make. Please read the following document that outlines all equipment requirements for all of the teams.

T 7. SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND PROTECTIVE WEAR

  1. Competitors must be in possession of, and wear:
    1. Red or blue coloured hand and feet safety equipment of an approved model, as certified by the I.T.F. Tournament and Umpire Committee, of an I.T.F. approved supplier as Certified by the Board of Directors.
    2. Red or blue coloured safety helmet of an approved model, as certified by the I.T.F. Tournament and Umpire Committee, of an I.T.F. approved supplier as Certified by the Board of Directors.
    3. Groin guards must be worn inside the dobok trousers male only.
  2. Competitors may, optionally, wear the following:
    1. Shin protectors.
    2. Breast protectors (must be worn INSIDE the dobok jacket - female only).
    3. Groin guards must be worn inside the dobok trousers female only
    4. Mouth Guards may been worn inside the mouth
  3. These all (With the exception of groin guards and mouth guards) being of an approved type consisting of elasticised material with sponge or rubber type padding and containing no metal, bone or hard plastic or similar hard material whatsoever, nor involving the use of zip, lace or stud fasteners.
  4. Groin Guards and Mouth Guards must be made of a plastic or rubber material designed to absorb impact, and must not contain any metal whatsoever, nor involve the use of zip, lace or stud fasteners.
  5. No other protective or safety equipment may be worn, except in special circumstances with the approval of the Tournament Committee.
  6. All competitors with injuries which require bandaging or strapping of any kind must satisfy the Tournament doctor of their need, and obtain approval of type before performing i.e. no pins or hard material can be worn, neither can bandaging give extra support so that it constitutes an advantage to that competitor.
  7. No jewellery, watches or other adornments may be worn, hair may be kept in place using a material of a soft elastic nature only, no grips, or slides are allowed.

SPARRING EQUIPMENT – TOP TEN ONLY

DOBOK

Only the following approved Doboks are allowed at the Euros 2012:

BLACK BELT

In accordance with Article 8.2 Belt (Amended and Approved, January 1, 2010) of the official I.T.F. Bylaws the following items have officially been approved by the I.T.F. Board of Directors for use by I.T.F. members worldwide.

  1. The belt is five centimetres wide and five millimetres thick. It is worn wrapped around the body once.
  2. The level of Black Belt degree membership is written in gold-coloured Roman numerals at one end only of the belt.
  3. A grade or degree holder may add his name and surname in gold letters as well as the name "International Taekwon-Do Federation" and/or of the NA or AA.
  4. Junior Black belts (up to 17 years) must wear a black belt with a white horizontal stripe through it, and at the age of 18 years the belt must be changed into a full Black belt (only if competing in senior division).

Official Senior Black Belt: to be worn by all black belt members in the senior division

Official Junior Black Belt: to be worn by all black belt members in the Junior division
