Mr Paul Stewart III, Mrs Jacqui Wallace II, Mr Mark Boydell IV, Mr David McNairn VI, Master Mark Hutton VII, Master Sheena Sutherland VIII, Master Gordon Wallace VII, Mr Charles McDonald V, Mrs Jacqui Timoney IV, GM Thomas MacCallum IX

Saturday 8th of October was a day of celebration for all ITF instructors in Scotland as they came together to attend the largest Annual General Meeting in the history of ITF Scotland, for the first time, every regional association was fully represented with the UKTF, Northern TKD Academies (NTA), TKD Scotland, Forth Valley TKD, Scotia TKD and GMAC, with SUTA in the form of Master Dosoo excusing himself from the day’s proceedings.

The Ramada Jarvis Hotel in beautiful Perth was the venue for this auspicious occasion. At a pre-AGM board our Chairman Master George Dosoo informed the Board including our Honorary President GM MacCallum, that he could no longer remain our Chairman, all in ITF Scotland wish to thank Master Dosoo for his stewardship this past year and wish him every success in the future.

The day began with an inspirational address from our honorary President and Scotland’s first ever Grand Master…GM MacCallum who informed the record number of Masters, International Instructors and Assistant Instructors in attendance of Master Dosoo’s decision not to continue in his role, and called for all present to remember that Taekwon-do should always strive to be one family, remembering the Tenets and showing each other at all times the courtesy that is the foundation of all we look to achieve. GM MacCallum’s speech was warmly received and very much appreciated by all.

The AGM then heard from our Secretary General Master Wallace, who outlined the activities and achievements of the past year of which there were many including the promotion of Mr Robin Blair to VI Degree in January at the IIC in Tralee Ireland, congratulations Mr Blair. Also the excellent improvements seen in our national teams in 2010 was carried forward to the World Championships in New Zealand whereby Scotland’s past record of Team Pattern achievements continued and the junior male team secured a Team Bronze.

Our Treasurer Mrs Jacqui Wallace II Degree, gave a detailed account of the year’s, professionally presented, and thankfully in a format all could easily follow.

The following agenda items continued in discussion to their conclusion and the AGM then moved forward with the all- important elections of both our new Chairperson as well as the vacant position of Board member. The first order of business was that of Chairperson, the meeting took a short recess to allow all regional associations to discuss and propose who they wished to see elected as our new Chairperson.

Master Sheena Sutherland VIII Degree

There were two nominations for the position, Master Sheena Sutherland VIII from UKTF and Mr David McNairn VI from NTA. However Mr McNairn felt that, whilst he was of course honoured to be thought so highly of to be considered for the position of Chairman, he was not ready to take this position at this time. This left Master Sutherland unopposed and as such she was duly elected as Chairperson for ITF Scotland this was greeted by a very warm round of applause from the membership. We extend our congratulations to Master Sutherland and look forward to the continued growth and prosperity of ITF Scotland under her leadership.

Next saw the election of the one remaining position, that of Board member, again there were two candidates, Mrs Gillian McIlvaney from GMAC and Mr Paul Stewart from UKTF, both stood before the electorate and gave their reasons for their candidacy. After a ballot by all members present it was Mr Stuart who emerged as the candidate chosen by the members, congratulations Mr Stuart we welcome you and have no doubt you will be an invaluable member of the ITF Scotland board.

The final session of the AGM dealt with issues raised in any other business and the AGM concluded with a tentative date August set for 2012.

On behalf of our new Chairperson and the Board of ITF Scotland we would like to take this opportunity to thank GM MacCallum, The Masters and all the Instructors and Assistant Instructors for turning out in such numbers and making this AGM such a memorable event.
