A month to Euros 2011
It is only one month left to the beginning of European Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
AETF HQ asked Mr. Ladislav Hunady, the President of Slovak Union of Taekwon-Do ITF and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee at what stage are the preparation of the most important event of the Old Continent.
Below we are presenting a short interview.
- What is the level of preparation to Euros 2011?
Preparation of the competition is going according to the plan. Slowly, we are finishing things regarding accommodation, promotion, awards, transport and finance.
We are assisting the countries who are applying for visas to Slovakia. We are sending the individual invitations, contacting with Slovak embassies in this countries. We are also providing the materials and equipment in the sport hall needed for the competition.
- Could you introduce the members of the Organizing Committee?
The members of the Organizing Committee are almost the same persons as when organizing Open European Cup last year. Currently, it consists of five people, besides me, Mr. Jozef Kotulak, the Secretary General, Mrs. Mária Janigová, Treasurer, Mr. Ján Goč, the Vice-President, Mrs. Martina Lenhardtová former President and the coach of National Team of Slovak Union of Taekwon-Do ITF, organizer of Presov Open and Mr. Hirner, a Member of the Organizing Committee.
- What is the most difficult task for the Organizing Committee?
The most difficult task for us is fact, that a lot of participants send their accommodation forms and informations about their arrivals and departures after deadlines. This is complicated for Organizing Committee.
- What attractions are for participants? What do they shall expect? Any surprises?
They can expect the great fighters. Many well-known and titled competitors have already applied. Attractive finals gala night with a performance of dance, acrobatic and a great party last night. We prepared beautiful medals with the symbol of the Slovakia – “Kríváň” and the logo of the European Championships as well as the crystal cups for the best competitors.
- What about latecomers? If they missed the deadline, will they have the chance to participate?
We are waiting until the end of this week (18th of September 2011). After this term we will not accept any accommodation forms. The deadline for on-line registration is 10th October 2011. Do not mix up with accommodation forms. These are two different things.
- How many participants have already applied to Euros 2011?
Until now we have 730 competitors, coaches, umpires and supporters from 29 countries.
- The Sports Hall for Euros 2011 is different than the one for Open European Cup. What is the reason of this change?
Unfortunately there was not free terms at Sibamac arena. Besidens, the costs was one of the factors. Athletic Hall Elan is slightly smaller and fulfils all standards.
- Many people are asking if there is available Internet for participants at the Sports Hall?
Yes, there is wifi.
- How would you evaluate the preparation of Slovak National Team?
Training are in charge of representation trainer Martina Lenhardtova according to current information and focuses on fitness and technical training. European Championships is about 15 competitors attended from Slovakia. We count them many success at this great event.
