Huge Changes in Georgia

In the term 25th – 27th June 2010 in Tibilisi the delegation of AETE took part in the official meeting with the representatives of Georgian National Taekwon-Do Federation, Georgian sport authorities as well as the representatives of Armenian Global Taekwon-Do Federation. We have informed about that meeting on our web under the link: http://www.itfeurope.org/NL2010-03-24.html.

Throughout the year Georgian National Taekwon-Do Federation, leaded by Mr Alexander Gongadze, has strengthen its organizational position and is the only one organization of Taekwon-Do ITF in Georgia that is recognized by both Georgian National Olympic Committee as well as by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia.

Although Georgia is rather small with around 5 million inhabitants, Taekwon-Do is comparatively popular. Currently Georgian National Taekwon-Do Federation cooperates with 45 instructors. Taekwon-do is practiced by almost 2000 students and there are Taekwon-Do schools in every region of Georgia.

One of the biggest organizational achievements is introducing Taekwon-do into schools, where it is treated as one of the school subjects.

Mr Alexander Gongadze and Mr. Parviz Mamedov

From 18th to 22nd August 2011, Mr. Parviz Mamedov, the President of Kazakhstan Association Taekwon-Do ITF, was invited to Georgia by National Federation of Taekwon-Do Georgia. His visit was the realization of the decision made during the meeting held one year ago.

Mr. Mamedov was the right person as has a good knowledge regarding the procedure being in force in ITF. Furthermore, he understands the mentality of people living in the Caucasus region and what is really important he can easily communicate with them in their own language.

The main aim of the visit was to conduct the technical and umpire seminar, but also to explain to the school leaders the procedures, regulations, policies and By-laws of ITF.

Around 70 participants took part in the seminar, not only from Georgia, but also from Armenia and Azerbaijan. Also the some instructors from Chang Ung’ and Choi Jung Hwa’ group in Georgia participated in the seminar.

All trainings were free of charge for the participants, what is worth of emphasizing.

On 19th August Mr. Mamedov had an official meeting with Mr. Amiran Zuhbaia, the representative of Georgian National Olympic Committee. On 20th August he took part in the meeting with Mr. Giorgi Galdava - the Vice-Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia. Information about the visit was posted on the official website of the Ministry.

Both the participants and the officials were very satisfied with the level and quality of the seminar and have also declared to extend the cooperation in the future. Some of the inctructors of Chang Ung’ and Choi Jung Hwa’ groups have declared to join Georgian National Taekwon-Do Federation.

Between the seminars sessions and official meetings there was time for discussions by the Caucasus regional cuisine.

The whole visit was in high interest of media. Information has appeared in both press and television.
