Newsletter 2/2011 ITA Dublin Open Championships
The ITA Dublin Open Taekwon-Do championships took place over the weekend of the 21st & 22nd May 2011.
The tournament consisted of 422 competitors from 30 clubs from around the country. The standard was very high in all divisions in both pattern and sparring. This year all the cadet and senior black belt sparring divisions were run in a pool system to give each competitor more sparring experience.
There were some top class competitors taking part in the event including, Mr. Dylan Fitzgibbon (World Champion -63kg Sparring, Argentina 2009 and New Zealand 2011), Mr. Hong Keat Looi, Silver Medallist in -71kg Sparring ITF Worlds 2011, Mr. Stephen Ryan Silver Medallist 4th - 6th Dan Pattern, ITF Worlds 2011, Ms. Melissa Timperley from New Zealand, Bronze Medallist ITF Worlds 2011.
