Polish Junior Championships Report

In the term 20th – 21st May 2011 in Olsztyn, a picturesque village situated in Częstochowa County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland famous inter alia for the ruins of a 14th-century castle and parks was held XXth Polish Junior Championships.

Mr. Jacek Wachala, the President and the head instructor in Dragon Janow Sports Club, well known as the coach of Polish Male National Team was the main organizer. Mr. Wachala and his team did their best to make this event an unforgettable experience. Mr. Tomasz Kucharski, village mayor of Olsztyn was present and represented the regional authorities.

In the Polish Junior Championships are allowed to participate only the competitors who had obtained the qualification in two regional eliminations. In this most important and prestigious event for juniors took part 136 competitors from 34 clubs. All presented very high technical level what made the championships very attention-grabbing.

All finalists were handed occasional diplomas, medals and great cups.

The best female competitor is Piotrowska Paula, KS Dragon Janow winning 1 gold and 1 silver. The best male competitor is Stefanik Łukasz Maciej, KS Dragon Janow with 1 gold and 1 bronze. Competitors who obtained the title of the best ones were awarded with high class bicycles from sponsor. The best club received DVD.

The best clubs in medal classification is:

  1. Klub Sportowy "Dragon" w Janowie: 3 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze
  2. Miejski Klub Sportowy "Lewart" AGS Lubartów: 2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze
  3. Ludowy Klub Sportowy Lotos Jabłonna: 1 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze

Beautiful weather encouraged to strolling and sightseeing. Numerous participants seized the opportunity and visited the Jurassic Miniature Castle Park. These were fascinating days gathering sports experience and broadening educational horizons.
