Grand Prix Poland 2011

In the term 8th – 10th April 2011 was held Polish Grand Prix in Pruszcz Gdanski organized by Sports Taekwon-Do Club AN-Do in Pruszcz Gdanski.

The curious detail is the fact that this is only one club in Poland run by two women; Ms. Anna Misztal, the President and Ms. Dorota Mazur, Secretary. Almost one hundred students practice in this club. The club has very friendly and family atmosphere. The parents of the competitors are deeply involved in its activity.

Polish Grand Prix was the first such a big event organized by above mentioned ladies, which turned out more difficult due to unexpectedly high number of competitors. In total 251 competitors from 36 clubs were enrolled. In the tournament 164 seniors from 36 clubs and 87 juniors from 21 clubs participated. They competed in individual patterns, sparring and special techniques played in repasage system, that is to two losses.

Although a considerable amount of competitors the event went smoothly. The tournament was played on five rings simultaneously.

The special gala was prepared for the audience and the guests when the finals of the chosen divisions took place. During the breaks between the bouts dancing group DV BBS (Dance Vision B-boys squad) was performing.

Also the delegate of the local authority participated at the gala, Mr. Jerzy Kulka, Vice- Mayor of Pruszcz Gdański and Mr. Piotr Pułkowski, the Director of Culture and Leisure Centre in Pruszcz Gdanski as well as the representatives of the sponsors. After the gala, the Board of Directors of Polish Taekwon-Do Association, the local authorities and the sponsors were invited into the distinguished banquet.

The Best Senior Clubs in medal classification are:

1. LKS MATSOGI Ciechanów:gold 3, silver 2, bronze 3
2. WSKT Wroclaw: gold 2, silver 2, bronze 0
3. MKS "Lewart" AGS Lubartów gold 2, silver 1, bronze 6

The title of the best senior female competitor went to Julia Sakowska from KST Tornado Szczecin, who won 1 gold and 2 silvers.

The best male senior competitor was Piotr Łuszcz LKS Lotos Jabłonna having 2 gold medals.

The Best Junior Clubs in medal classification are:

1. KS "Dragon" Janów: gold 2, silver 3, bronze 5
2. GKT ITF Gdansk: gold 2, silver 0, bronze 4
3. MKS Żak Biala Podlaska: gold 2, silver 0, bronze 2

Marta Stanisławczyk from KTT Łodz gained the title of the best junior female wining 1 gold and 1 silver medal. Bartosz Głos from TKT Lechmed Torun who got 1 gold and 1 bronze medal became the best junior male.
