Annual Cup in Ussuriysk

Ussuriysk is the second biggest city after Vladivostok in Primorsky Krai.

Primorsky Krai borders with China, North Korea, and the relatively warm - though freezing in winter – waters of the Sea of Japan, is the most forwarded region of Russia to south eastern area, located between 42° and 48° North latitude and 130° and 139° East longitude. It is stretched in the meridian direction. The distance from its extreme northern point to its most southerly point is about 900 kilometres (559 mi). There are many mountains and uplands, almost 80% of the territory is forested.

This time I had to travel 11 hours by airplane from Moscow to Vladivostok, the capital of Primorsky Krai, then an hour from Vladivostok to Ussuriysk by car. Ussuriysk is a big Taekwon-Do centre of Russia. With more than 10% of population being native Koreans.

The President of the Primorsky Krai ITF Federation of Russia is Mr. Vladimir Lee, a world champion in 28.08-05.09.1999 Buenos Aires, Argentina at Individual Pattern IIIrd Degree. Mr. Lee is still one of the best technical Taekwon-Do instructors in Russia. Mr. Vitaly Kim is the head instructor of Ussuriysk, who is one of the best instructors in Russia. My personal opinion is that his younger children competitors obtain the best technique among all Russia children competitors! I believe we will see them in world cup 2012. Mr. Kim is deeply devoted to Taekwon-Do. His biggest achievement were a silver medal in world junior championship in sparring -52 and in team sparring and a bronze medal in team patterns. All medals was won in the first junior championship, Moscow 1992.

The organization level was really good with fair umpiring. During the competition I heard a good news that in Ussuriysk is being built a new big sport hall which will be able to host international sport events. Of course my first thought was that when it will became true we will be able to organize international cup and invite the nearest countries like China, Japan and Korea.
