ETA Autumn Seminar and Grading

Master Ellis and Master Denis with ETA Instructors and Students

On Saturday 25 September 2010 members of ETA took part in the Autumn Seminar and Grading, held in Rickmansworth School in Hertfordshire. The day started at 10am with Master Ellis 8th degree, taking the students through a 3 hour Master Class consisting of conditioning, stretching, fundamental exercise and Self-defence. All of the students enjoyed the content of the seminar which included how to defend against an attacker while sitting in a chair and defending against an opponent attacking with a chair. Master Ellis demonstrated his vast knowledge, showing how practical Taekwon-Do can be in these different situations. While the seminar was in full swing 27 candidates from 1st kup to 2nd degree took their grading, conducted by Master Denis 7th degree along with Mr Patterson and Mr Symonds. The Grading went very well with a high percentage reaching the required standard, including current European junior -70kg vice-Champion Morgan da Silva who was promoted to 3rd degree.

Later that day Master Ellis conducted a Senior Grading and promoted Mr Nick Symonds and Mr Janitzio Moreno to 6th degree, the examination for the 2 candidates lasted just over 2hours consisting of Patterns, 1step, foot sparring, knife defence, 2vs1 sparring, self defence, breaking and theory, it was a tough grading and true test for them both.
