NewsletterThe year 2009 was a year with many challenges but it was also a year with interesting performance of our different schools. This must be our goal to make Taekwon-Do in Switzerland more popular.
January 2009
In January we had the idea to organise the biggest TKD tournament in Switzerland with participation from different countries. In the next 9 months we worked continuously to organise the tournament. It was a big challenge for all involved parties.
March 2009
We are given in Fribourg a Taekwon-Do initiation to the CO of Bulle. On the 7th March took place the examination of 13 students with coloured belts in the Taekwon-Do School Rüti. All those students reached successful the next Kup. At the end of March we had an invitation for a Training session and Tournament from the TKD School in Ditzingen (Germany). 11 students and 2 Instructors from TKD School Rüti took part on this Friendship event. They could win a bronze Medal. It was a great event and we could develop our relation to the others TKD School from Germany an Austria.
May 2009
5 members from TKD School Rüti took part from 22th to 24th May on the 44th IIC in Miesbach Germany. Sabun Nim Jorge Züger participates in the examination for the 6th Dan. He reached successful the 6. Dan.
June 2009
On the 4th June took place a family activity day in Noréaz and on 8th June also a family activity day in Ependes. Both were a very good reason with an huge fun.
July 2009
On the 11th July took place the examination of 15 students with coloured belts in the Taekwon-Do School Rüti. All those students reached successful the next Kup. At the same date also the black belt examination of 4 participants took place. Mirco Stehli, Matthias Hofstetter, Edi Da Silva and Peter Jonker reached successful the 1. Dan. On the 13th, 16th, 18th, 21th, 23th and 25th July the Taekwon-Do school Fribourg in Ependes had given an initiation for 5 to 12 years old children. These were important events to demonstrate Taekwon-Do to different children.
August 2009
On the 19th August took place the examination for 1th Dan in the Taekwon-Do School Fribourg. Kim Overney reached successful the 1. Dan.
September 2009
The Taekwon-Do School Rüti realized the day of the open doors. It was the first time that we could make an outdoor demonstration. On the 12th September organized the Taekwon-Do School Rüti the 1st Swiss Challenger Cup. We knew large attention in Newspaper and we had many spectators. More than 130 participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are came together to attend this special event. Winner of the 1st Swiss Challenger Cup was the Taekwon-Do School Rüti followed by Taekwon-Do School Fribourg. There was a lot of work for this event but we had going made TKD more popular in Switzerland and we are motivated to organize the next Swiss Challenger Cup in 2011.
October 2009
On the 11th July took place the examination of 11 students with coloured belts in the Taekwon-Do School Rüti. All those students reached successful the next Kup. On the 24 October the Taekwon-Do School Fribourg organized a Taekwon-Do Day with special classes.
November 2009
A Team with 8 members from ITF Switzerland took part at the World Championship in Argentina. The competitors were Kim Overnay, Matthias Hofstetter, Daniel Zimmermann and Pablo Pascuzzo. Pablo Pascuzzo won the bronze medal in individual Sparring up to 54kg. Hayal Ince took part of the education as an umpire. The Coaches for Team of Switzerland were Sébastien Lesueur and Jorge Züger.
Conclusion
Our National Association closed the year 2009 with 167 active members. 147 are colour belts, 20 are black belts and from them are 3 instructors. We open in 2010 a new School in Lugano and one new School in Bern. We work hard to make Taekwon-Do more popular in Switzerland and we think we are on the right way. All members of the different Taekwon-Do Schools in Switzerland were ready to continue. Our aim with Taekwon-Do is to have a better life and it is our aim to distribute Taekwon-Do and develop a strong Federation in our beautiful country.
