NewsletterWe are fast approaching the Euros 2010, an event which this year will be conspicuous by the abscence a competitor who, as the most sucessful ever competitor has become an ITF tournament legend. After winning 6 World and 15 European titles in a row of successes unparalleled in the history of ITF competition, in a career spanning almost 20 years , Miss Julia Cross IV Degree (Scotland) has decided that the time is right to announce her retirement from competition.
When asked about her decision to retire Julia said “These last two years have been particularly difficult for me due to a serious and progressive hip injury which now requires surgery should I wish to continue in TaeKwon-Do in any sort of capacity. This has helped me to realise my life in TaeKwon-Do is more than just about tournament, and as much as I have enjoyed competing and had a great time in doing so, I feel it is now time to move on.
This decision has not been easy to reach and I will find it very hard to say goodbye to the adrenaline and energy of competition, however my classes and seminars are taking up more and more of my time and these are something that I would like to focus on in the future. It seems for me, a natural progression to share my experience and knowledge with the people who will be tomorrows champions”.
ITF Scotland and The United Kingdom TaeKwon Do Federation would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Cross for the years of devotion and sacrifice she has dedicated to the national team, and to wish her well in her future Taekwon-Do career.
