NewsletterOn 21st March 2010 in the conference room in Hôtel Québec 3115, avenue des Hôtels Québec in Canada was held the ceremony to honoured died tragically GM Trân Triêu Quân. Over 200 quests participated the ceremony.
Prof. Janel Gauthier together with daughters of GM Trân, Joliette and Cecilia took care all organizational matter. Among attendants there were GM Pablo Trajtenberg, Acting President, Master Paul Weiler ITF Vicepresident, Mrs Ann MacLellan and Mr. Russel MacLellan, former ITF President.
Also Europe was strongly represented, among others there were present Master Tadeusz Loboda from Poland, President of All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation, Master Per Andresen, President of NTN Norway, the chair of ITF Development Committee, Master Per Christian Garnaes, NTN Norway, Master Mark Hutton from Scotland, Master Kenneth Wheatley from Ireland and Mr. Harry van Schaik from Netherlands, the member of ITF Development Committee.
Presentations was in English and French. Each one was focused on a different period of GM Trân’s life. The last part of tribute was dedicated to GM Tran and ITF.
The first speaker in that part was Mr. Russell MacLellan who had been Senior Vice-President of the ITF when General Choi had died. He spoke about the contributions to the ITF before GM Trân had become President of the ITF, what he had been like before becoming the President.
The next speaker was Master Tadeusz Loboda, a member of the ITF Board of Directors ever since GM Trân became President of the ITF. See his farewell speech (PDF, 1,07 MB).
The third speaker was Master Per Andresen who spoke as a Member who had joined ITF after GM Trân had become President of the ITF. He talked about what had attracted him and his colleagues to ITF and what ITF needed to do to continue to attract as many members in the future.
The last to speak in part regarding Taekwon-Do was Grand Master Pablo Trajtenberg, who spoke as the new leader of the ITF about GM Trân's legacy and his determination to carry on his work, particularly the work on the promotion and the teaching of the DO.
Next, master Evan Davidson, President of International Taekwon-Do Foundation of New Zealand Inc. officially presented to the GM Trân family the Photo Tribute album from GM Trân’s visit in New Zealand. See link to the album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwIvN14gb7E.
During the ceremony there were shown photos and short movies from the life of GM Trân presenting Taekwon-Do as well as his private life. National Canadian Team made a special performance.
Extremely moving was closing speech of GM Trân’s children Joliette, Cecilia and Nicolas. After the memorial ceremony there was official dinner with family members.
