Winter Camp - Szczyrk 2010

Snowboarding, Skiing and Taekwon-Do.

The next edition of the Central Winter Camp Taekwon-Do Szczyrk 2010 was held in the term 14th – 20th February 2010.

There were 72 participants from four countries: England, Ireland, Wales and from Poland, the representatives from the 11 clubs from 10 cities: Biała Podlaska (Żak), Kolbudy (KST Kolbudy), Janów (Dragon), Lubartów (Lewart), Lublin (LSKT), Łódź (CTKD Łódź, KTT Łódź), Rybnik (Arete) Warsaw (Garda), Zamość (ZSKT).

This year we were living in “Adam” holiday hotel, situated in the centre of the town, so it was quite easy to get to every corner of Szczyrk. Everyone was much more pleasant not have to climbing a mountain after really tiring training session (what was usual in the previous years). Everyone liked the venue so much that they wish to be accommodated there next year.

The weather, snow and skiing conditions did not let down this year, but it was exactly as we dreamt travelling to the destination, because two last seasons were not as favourable to skiing funs. Some parents, who brought their children liked the place so much that they decided to stay with us to the end of the camp.

The trainings sessions were conducted by the duet of the great coaches from Lewart Lubartów: Master Jerzy Jedut, famous for its innovative and creative training methods and Mr. Jarosław Suska, four-times individual world champion, seventeen-times European champion, one of the best technician in the field of Taekwon-Do ITF around the world.

Master Tom Dennis from England was the honoured guest, who has been attended the central camps in Poland for many years.

The organizational matters were under control of Master Tadeusz Loboda and everything worked as efficiently as a Swiss watch.

The campers were divided into two groups according to the level of advancement. The classes were held at the sports hall at primary school placed nearby the hotel. At the advanced group were practising very hard among others the coaches from Poland: Mr. Rober Jasinski, Vth Degree, Daniel and Joanna Nowakowski, both Ist Degree, Szymon Wygryło, Ist Degree and well-known competitors: Marcela Capaja, Lindsey Conway, Joanna Lipa, Moskaluk Kaja, Anna Siwinska, Tomasz Cur, Rafał Kubiak, Regan Lawrance, Grzegorz Szałkowski. The main issues at the classes were to improve feet techniques and sport sparring.

Due to the fact that also at the Hotel Adam there is small dojang, every day the participants might have availed themselves of the individual consultations till midnight.

Before afternoon everyone could have gone skiing as long as they wished. Because of the marvellous conditions on the slope many attendants enjoyed themselves skiing or snowboarding.
