From 5th to 7th June 2009, in one of the historic and most beautiful cities in Poland, Czestochowa, in recently opened sports hall was held the XXII Polish Senior Taekwon-do Championships.

This tournament is the most important event for Polish Taekwon-Do practitioners. It was a qualification to World Championships to be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina in 2009. The coaches of Polish National Team observed the competition very carefully in order to make the right selection, what was not an easy task. In Polish Senior Championships can take part only those, who gained the qualification on the Polish Cup and Polish Grand Prix. In a nut shell, only the best competitors from Poland could have entered this competition. As every year participants presented extremely high level of technical skills. 159 competitors from 37 clubs took part in Polish Senior Championships.

The title of the best female competitor went to Martyna Kisiel from the club Dragon Janow with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. The best male competitor was Dariusz Idzikowski from SKS Start Olsztyn who won a gold and a silver medals. For the 10th time in a row the best club was MKS LEWART AGS Lubartow winning 8 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The championships were under the patronage of Mr. Tadeusz Wrona, the President of Czestochowa. Members of the Honorary Organizing Committee were deputies of Poland: Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, Grzegorz Sztolcman. Andrzej Szewiński. prof. Jerzy Buzek, former Prime Minister of Poland and a candidate for the chairman of European Parliament. The Opening Ceremony gathered crowd of people. Among the audience were many politicians and authorities.

The main organizers were Czestochowska Akademia Taekwon-do, Polish Taekwon-do Association and Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa.

Congratulations to Jacek Wąsik phd, head of Częstochowska Akademia Taekwon-do, the organiser of the event, for preparing this tournament with such a high organizational standard. Everything ran smoothly, and everyone enjoyed the event.
