Central Winter Camp – Szczyrk 2009

At the initiative of two leading taekwon-do clubs from Poland, MKS Lewart Lubartow and LSKT Lublin, from 31st January to 6th February 2009 there was organized the Central Winter Camp, which was held in a beautiful place called Szczyrk, Poland.

Over 70 participants from four Polish clubs: LSKT Lublin, MKS Lewart Lubartów, KAT Kraśnik, Rybnicki Klub Taekwon-do Arete Rybnik, 5 people from England, at the head of Tom Denis – coach of ITF England National Team and one person from Ireland – Sabina Mason.

The winter in Poland is beautiful this year. There is a lot of snow and sun shines almost all the time. Because of wonderful weather and great skiing conditions, in the morning participants could optional have gone skiing, snowboarding or taken part in Taekwon-Do training session.

Skiing group was divided into two subgroups depending on level of advancement. The advanced one was conducted by Jaroslaw Suska and the beginners were under Master Tadeusz Loboda protection. They were spending almost three hours each day having fun on a ski slope.

At the same time Master Jerzy Jedut was conducting the training session. In the afternoon there were organized only taekwon-do activities. Campers were divided into two groups. The older one (blue to black belt) was conducted by Master Jerzy Jedut. The group consisted of 12 very experienced and titled black belt holders (Ist to Vth Degree) and about 25 colour belt holders (with vast majority of red belts). The younger group was conducted by Jaroslaw Suska. In the evenings all the instructors were available for many hours on individual consultations. This direct way of teaching gained a great popularity among participants. Each day there were the long lines of people eager to improve their skills. The camp not only gave a chance to practice winter sports, but in particular it was to make progress with taekwon-do techniques, what was used by Tom Denis, who is preparing for VIIth Degree grading.

The final impression was very positive. All instructors and participants were very satisfied and pleased with the time they spent there. The camp was very successful in each aspect.

As of today, the organizers invite you for the camp next year!

Many black belt holders, who shared their experiences, knowledge and eagerly helped lower degrees, attended his trainings.
