IVth Children and young people Taekwon-do games

These competitions are mainly for children up to 15 years old. Taekwon-do games is a very popular championship in Latvia, because young people participate in this event.

7 Latvian clubs took part in this tournament. This lovely event was organized by Aleksandr Stadnichenko on 26th January.

 

Latvian beginners cup 2008

First club "Cin-gu" championships took place in Riga on 16th of February. In addition „Latvian beginners cup 2008” during this tournament. This event was for taekwon-do students, who have been practicing taekwon-do martial art only for one year. Competitors from all Latvian clubs participated in that tournament.

1st place was achieved by a "Čin-Gu" sport club, 2nd by "Hvaran” and 3rd place by "Eldo sport".

 
 

Taekwon-do tournament "Ikskile 2008"

The Second Open Taekwon-do tournament "Ikskile 2008" took place in Ikshkile on 8th March , it was organized by President of Sport club „Sonkal” – Maris Sudzans. 64 Taekwon-do students from 8 Latvian clubs took part in this event.

1st place was won by a "Hvaran" sport club, 2nd place by "TKD" Jekabpils and 3rd place by "VIKTORIJA-T" club.

 

Taekwon-do camp

In August Latvian sportsmen went to summer camp to a beautiful place called Apgulde. For ten days pupils were being trained by 4 instructors: Robert Shenin (IVth Degree), Oksana Cjucjura (IInd Degree), Denis Tokarev (IInd Degree) and Viktor Minin (Ist Degree) from two biggest Latvian teakwon-do clubs “Hvaran” and “Viktorija-T”. Sportsmen participated in football tournament, taekwon-do competitions and many other activities. At the end of the camp all participants could have taken part in a celebratory salute and a disco.

   

„Amber fighter”

In 2nd November in the School of Business Administration Turība took place Ist Taekwon-do Open tournament „Amber fighter”. Main idea of this event was to build good relationships between Latvian martial arts federations. 120 sportsmen from 12 clubs were competing. This tournament was also interesting because of the fact that among the participants were competitors from foreign countries.

   

"Moscow Challenge"

The international tournament "Moscow Challenge" took place in Moscow on 13th December. Latvian team also took part in this great event. 24 Latvian team members, out of which 16 was sportsmen, won 18 medals in various divisions and weight categories. In Latvian team there were sportsmen from "TKD", Hvaran, Eldo" and "VIKTORIJA-T" clubs. After the competition sportsmen took the opportunity to go on a one-day excursion to do the sightseeing of this beautiful city.
